@casimir Ah, In which case I thank the action figure gods. I am trying to liquidize my overly stuffed collection-Not add to it. And Yes, this thread is dying, I actually come here to be ignored. Zero excitement for the line right noiw it seems.  Its funny but ever since the big forum crash of '23 things are not the same. I find posting a chore....like replying to Aunty So and So after receiving B'day gifts. Weird.

Yeah, I've been getting that same feeling. It seems like the good old Fwoosh Forums just aren't what they once were. At least that's the way it feels. I think this thread used to get somewhere around 10 to 15 new posts a day, and now it's like 3 or 4 (if we're lucky).

It appears a lot of the regulars never came back after the crash. I'm not sure why. It could be a result of how long it took things to get back up and running, combined with the fact that it was a pain in the a$$ to sign up again. I think I had to try like 5 times before it finally took.

Whatever the reason, things just don't seem quite as lively around here as they once did. But it's still the best action figure forum on the web.

It is a lot more of a chore to post now. Navigating these forums on my phone is aggravating, and apparently they won’t work with Tapatalk. And every time I click on an email reply link, it takes me to the 1st post in the thread, not the 1st unread post. I miss the old forums.

Finally got a yellow Sinestro, which is what I wanted rather than his green "phasing" look.  The figure is great, but to be honest for the inflated price it should have come with additional hands, maybe an angry or arrogant face sculpt, and just as a suggestion Todd, I can get more use out of a flight stand than I can a trading card "holder."  My McFarlane cards go in a box to be looked at later, but I never display them.  A flight stand for a character that flies/floats is more beneficial to the consumer overall.

@pg-superfan I'm busy as hell, but enjoying life overall these days and I feel even worse about DCM than you lol.  So no I don't think you're cynical, you're spot on, McFarlane is fucking awful now.  I defended the line 2-3 years ago because it was bonkers cool.  I love Batman and Capullo.  The line knew what it was and while it wasn't for everyone it was the most interesting thing going.  Spawn came back and honestly his Kickstarter is still possibly the prettiest figure I own.

Then proportion issues got worse and quantity came before quality.  But the sculpts were new at least and different looks from recent books.  Now it's just trash, I'm sorry.  Reusing these over textured and poorly proportioned bodies to "world build."  I don't fucking want these, I don't care for a lot of DC characters persay but cool figures would persuade me.  Hawkman is a disappointment and Anthony's Customs review of Firestorm is spot on.  Then the "reveals" - black accent Aquaman, Patina Cy-Gor, WoW....does anyone want this shit???  Seriously.  Blizzard figures actually would sell, but they're going straight to clearance b/c it's statues.

2-3 years ago EVERYTHING DC was exciting, now nothing is.  The Superman Page Punchers are the only potentially interesting thing.  What happened??  Did everything go under and he's scrambling?  Why show the Medieval Spawn KS in July and tell us it's going live in August.....then say nothing for 3 months.  WTF??  Why haven't we seen Steel or Cyborg Superman??  Something is up.  Probably economic, but I don't think he cares.  It sucks because it was a fun line and the recent Spawn stuff in 2023 looked really cool and sold around here.  But I don't even know if he will push that.

As for Fwoosh, it's not the same at all.  I debated coming back at all.  I come out of habit and it actually helps me vent today so there's that.  Marvel Legends is putting out better than Todd now, but that's dull in a different way to me.

Todd's initial strategy just ended up backfiring. Collecting in general has been in decline since its peak during the pandemic, but the truth is that these figures are more expensive and worse quality than they were when the line started, and that's not a great place to be 3-4 years in.

They started by hammering out tons of new molds, having great paint apps, and gaining market share by selling at a lower price than the competition. Those initial Metal Batmen are much better figures than what we get now. Even looking at the original Batman/Superman compared to Knightfall Bats, the difference in paint is alarming.

The scale, proportion, and comic inaccuracy were always there but it was OK when we had detailed sculpt/paint. At this point, we get mostly re-used, unpainted plastic that keeps most of the original flaws. Instead of making a mold with more figures in mind for re-use, they just take the first version of a mold and make it the default. Rebirth Superman, Blue Beetle, and Catwoman are 3 molds that were only accurate once, and have since been used for at least 12 inaccurate figures.

Figures like Hawkman/Firestorm are still there but we're paying a premium and most of the $20 figures have declined in quality. They haven't fixed simple issues like scale and won't create more standard base bodies for more economical re-use.

The thread still pops when a cool reveal comes out. Wonder Woman/Lobo created several pages of new posts. I just think the good reveals are becoming few and far between.

@mysticmanjrf you've articulated my thoughts on the line as well. Granted, I'm still a fan and I was never a completist but I'm buying less (but but but they're also making more characters I don't care for right now and MickDicks don't have the wow factor of a new line anymore), most of my purchases are for customs anyway. Dunno. I just hope that sales on the shitty reused standard figures and overpriced collector crap will decline, pushing Todd to put his shit together and improve.

I think when the site went down, people were desperate to talk and discuss so a lot went to Discord and are still there. I'm pretty sure the last time the forum crashed before this time it was much cheaper to get back up and running. I really can't say about McFarlane. I don't know maybe his hands were tied for what he initially could do and is now adjusting but the higher price and reusing wrong bodies is not helping and everything being mostly exclusive is not helping either. This is why you always start with a few base bodies and build on them so you don't have to use the wrong bodies. I didn't say this loosecollector did and one day I'm sure he will get an opportunity at the DC License.

@mysticmanjrf well said.  I saw Knightfall Batman at Best Buy a week back and must say he does look really well sculpted.  But the colors are just.....not it.  He also clearly wants Batman all the time and seems to be moving towards media with movie and Animated.  I get it, but no interest in those.  Still find it odd Cyborg Superman was supposed to go up for pre-order in September or October and....nothing.

Despite my justifiable ire, I know I will be excited if Page Punchers and King Spawn bring his fastball.  But it is very few and far between now.  Yamaguchi Flash and Mafex Knightfall are the most exciting DC releases  I see now.  If LooseCollector truly does an Iconic Heroes line that might be priority.  And yes, could see him or someone else trying out DC.

Is there seriously talk about Loose Collector doing bigger licenses?

I'll admit I was getting so down on McFarlane that I went back and got a 1:12 JLA to go with my Marvel Legends Squadron Supreme. Mafex Hush Superman and Knightfall Batman, DC Icons Flash and Green Lantern, Mezco Wonder Woman. That's about as close as you can get to a modern ML compatible "big five".

@Rodimus Rex

Very recently he teased Grendel and possibly Evil Ernie, but not in The Vault.  It's a new line called Iconic Heroes and the logo is very reminiscent of Legendary Comic Book Heroes.  Grendel was actually one of the LCBH figures we didn't get.  I want Youngblood.

So he's moving.  I don't own any of his figures because they don't appeal to me except for Hyde.  This would be a game changer though - I have wanted something like this for a long time.  DC I guess is locked up, but who knows.  Todd seems to be focusing on media stuff.....from content decades old.

Picked up the new Aquaman today. Cool figure and completes a nice classic looking live action JL line up for me (I subbed in Flash Keaton over ZSJL Affleck as it’s a nicer figure IMO and more classic look for the costume). Pretty happy to call it a day for live action now until Gunn’s new DCU comes out in a few years. Unless Todd does a Kingdom Come Routh or S&L Hoechlin in which case sign me up!

Also picked up the Atomic Skull v Superman 2-Pack and Mongul. That original Superman is still my favorite Superman sculpt McFarlane has done and I love the new colors more than the original release. So for me the set was almost worth it for Superman alone (plus I got 10% off) but the Atomic Skull figure is pretty cool as well. Sure, he’s a reuse but I think it mostly works here. Mongul is decent for the £30 I paid but I think the RRP £43 for MegaFigs is a bit too high in general tbh.

Overall I’ve not bought a Multiverse figure since The Flash stuff in the summer so I’ve got a few figures I want to catch up on but I always like how solid they feel in hand (even if scale/proportions leave something to be desired).

Now I just need to decide which Batman scales best with the rest of the Bat Family - Rebirth/Knightfall or Three Jokers/Hush.

I remember when Eric Myers set up the web-site Raving Toy Maniac (RTM acronym as a play on Rec.Toys.Misc) with Toy Otter's help and when they set up their first discussion board I used to post there all the time back in the mid to late 1990's

Yeah I posted on RTM back in the 90s. One long scroll. Freaking out about Famous Covers. Seems insane now that the 1 scroll model was ever viable.

I’m still a huge fan of McFarlane’s DC stuff. (And so are a lot of other people out there). Do I buy every figure that comes out? Not even. But I’m usually very happy with the figures I do buy. And we all know every action figure line has its gems and its stinkers. But it seems quite a few people around here lately only focus on what they don't like and are choosing to ignore all the awesome figures that have come out in the past year or so. Like Anti-Monitor, Hawkman, Firestorm, Knightfall Batman, The Flash, Catman, Brainiac, Jay Garrick, Mr. Freeze, etc. Not to mention several cool vehicles like the Keaton Batmobile and even a seahorse for Aquaman to ride.

And there are a lot of excellent looking things on the horizon, like classic Wonder Woman, Red Tornado, Knightfall Nightwing, Animal Man, Lobo’s Space Bike, and etc.

I'm personally still very excited for this line and I don’t see any evidence of it dying, or even slowing down. So I hope McFarlane gets to keep the DC license for as long as he wants it.

I hear ya.  For me it was just a string of reveals I found bad after a long winning streak.  Then some specific disappointments.  I love Superman and Spawn art though and when that gets rolling I could be 180 degrees back into it.  I'm annoying that way, but everything is "what have you done for me lately."

We know nothing of 2024 really.  Could be exciting.

My biggest problem with McFarlane has been the treatment that Superman continues to get. I like Lobo in doses, but he gets treatment that Superman has NEVER received after four years?! It's all there, too: use a new buck or even the Captain Atom buck, add a new headsculpt, the lighter colors from the Atomic Skull pack, a cloth cape with shield on the back, multiple hands, an extra heat vision (or God forbid, a smiling face) and a flight stands. That's still far less than Lobo is getting but would sell twice as much.

Todd has at least never lied about only caring about what he considers "cool" characters and that those are his focus. I was holding out hope for the "Classic Superman," but despite a non-Infected body, it still falls short of what it could be.

"The Year of Superman" has passed without a faithful Doomsday or Superman and still no faithful Supermen from The Reign of The Supermen. As of now, I'm going to get that "Classic Superman" and see if I can swap trunks and the classic Wonder Woman. That will be the end for me. A nice looking Trinity in this scale will be a good jumping off point for me. Hopefully, Todd will get back on track next year or the license will go elsewhere after five years. I still wish NECA would get it, but I know that's unlikely. At any rate, I'll still buy the occasional Super Powers figures and vehicles, but Multiverse will be behind me.

If there was a perfect Superman, who would ever buy another one? 😉

For an "ultimate" Superman i stick with Mezco. DC Multiverse is for cherry-picking.
