That's because Tommy isn't here to provide his endless insight into Todd's psyche, speculation and wishlisting.
According to Entertainment Earth, there's 3 McF reveals tomorrow. Not 100% guaranteed it's DC, but my guess is it's the 3 figures that come with NFT, including the new Wonder Woman and (hopefully) the long-rumored New 52 Batman.
Finally caved and bought red Santa Batman. I was buying Lord Death Man and the Infinite Frontier Scarecrow on Todd's site (they're both on sale) and couldn't resist. Surprised blue sold out first...
@casimir Ah, In which case I thank the action figure gods. I am trying to liquidize my overly stuffed collection-Not add to it. And Yes, this thread is dying, I actually come here to be ignored. Zero excitement for the line right noiw it seems. Its funny but ever since the big forum crash of '23 things are not the same. I find posting a chore....like replying to Aunty So and So after receiving B'day gifts. Weird.
I'm honestly excited about Super Powers and '66 and sub-lines like BTAS and Batman & Robin, but not much for Multiverse. The new $30 price tag is daunting for what you get, even though I'm glad he's expanding out in the DCU more.

Yeah, I've been getting that same feeling. It seems like the good old Fwoosh Forums just aren't what they once were. At least that's the way it feels. I think this thread used to get somewhere around 10 to 15 new posts a day, and now it's like 3 or 4 (if we're lucky).
It appears a lot of the regulars never came back after the crash. I'm not sure why. It could be a result of how long it took things to get back up and running, combined with the fact that it was a pain in the a$$ to sign up again. I think I had to try like 5 times before it finally took.
Whatever the reason, things just don't seem quite as lively around here as they once did. But it's still the best action figure forum on the web.
Â
I don't post as much anymore, because it does feel like more of a chore. Sometimes I'll be reading a thread, and find that I've been logged out and I have to do the damn captchas again just as I want to post. This leads to not posting at all. and just trying again next time.Â
That's because Tommy isn't here to provide his endless insight into Todd's psyche, speculation and wishlisting.
Â
Don't forget the homegrown bigotry that found its way into every conversation from Tommy's buddy 😋Â That added to the content as well.Â
Â
I used to be a (mostly) daily poster and an every-hour-or-so reader, which also led to a lot of posting. But since it's not compatible with Tapatalk, and the mobile version of the forum is a drag, I only log in from a desktop now and it's only when I'm on a break at work. I loved the interactions here prior to the crash, and I'm sure I did my share of getting on people's nerves as well, but it's just inconvenient now to get on.Â
Â
As far as toys, I've been buying fewer and fewer McFarlane's this year, coincidentally it started with the forum crash. I guess not being exposed to others' excitement every day has tempered my own lol That, and I've been getting into Hot Toys and higher end stuff. It's too bad that AzBats was a custom, it had me fooled! Made me want to jump back in lolÂ
Â
I get the feeling that Todd isn't doing so well with these and is throwing a bunch of crap against the wall to see what sticks.
We still haven't seen Steel. It's looking like the only announcements left until 2024 will be Collector Edition wave 3, exclusives, the NFT wave, the Page Punchers Superman wave, and the Clooney BAF wave. Plus Super Powers and Filmation Batman.
I don't see a lot to generate excitement. I see a lot of people anecdotally bailing and store sections shrinking. We've actually got bare pegs at Target, which McFarlane didn't have before.
And it feels like he's just doing random licenses, mostly Warner Bros. based but everything from Dune to Pacific Rim to Big Bang Theory to Ted Lasso -- All WB stuff. And then you have the Blizzard video games and the sports stuff and I mostly see people making fun of it all because it looks like a Boomer courting Zoomers with what they think Zoomers like. It all looks like what somebody from ten years ago would think is cutting edge. Or like Todd is getting homework from WBD.
Why not do Thundercats? Captain Planet? Space Ghost? Scooby Doo? Toyetic stuff. You're getting the Hasbro and Mattel placement so why not use brands Hasbro or Mattel might do if they had Todd's relationship with WBD?
The Hangover, Diablo, and Big Bang Theory feel like they're aimed at people my age who don't collect toys. They feel like NECA's leftovers. They feel like wild, undirected desperation. Like pushing every button on the elevator.
And I get social notifications for McFarlane and, without fail, anything cool that actually sells out fast gets 1-3 posts when it drops and the stuff that smells like failure gets 8-10 Instagram posts alone and goes on clearance. So they clearly have some sense which things are working and which things are longshots.
And they're taking a lot of longshot bets. Which looks like somebody in trouble.
My prediction is that for the next 18 months, we're going to see the most random crap (mostly WBD) in the most random form factors.
We're also going to get Page Punchers (3 inch) of everything. We're getting Stranger Things, G.I. Joe, and Transformers? I'm predicting TMNT, Street Fighter, Power Rangers, Disney Afternoon... Anybody that has a comic book from the last 10 years.
I think it's going to be a spiral of wildly insane desperate crap, out of control chases, NFT integration, WB movies you'd forgotten existed...
And then I'm going to predict that Mattel or Jada gets the license next renewal. Not because Todd has it taken away. Because there's no way to justify it financially with any of the strategies he's tried and -- while he'd have settled for breaking even -- I think he's actually losing a crapton of money and he won't pursue a license renewal.
Am I being too cynical?
I've personally cut down on what I'm getting from the line mainly because I have to cut spending somewhere. The $30 "collector" figures aren't showing off enough additions (either paint, CORRECT PARTS, or extra accessories) to warrant the price, so I've avoided all of those thus far.
I'm not double dipping on Lobo since I have the original, just like I didn't get the Target Ted Kord BB after getting the 2 pack with Booster.
So far, other than the B&R wave, I'm only interested in that classic WW that was recently shown off.
today's mcfarlane reveal is... world of warcraft.... no dc news today.

Same on all counts. I've also lost a bit of interest in the line overall; I'm happy to be more of a cherry picker than I had been previously.
I was a member of the pre-Crisis Fwoosh since 2009. It was my go-to for action figure discussion of all kind. A big part of the appeal was the knowledge of the community, some of whom had been here even longer than I had. The thing that made it so easy to drop in and chat was Tapatalk. I don't know the tech ins and outs, but I think the site owners need to figure out a way to get back on Tapatalk. I think a lot of folks gave up when they saw the forums were off Tapatalk and that it took so many times just to create an account.Â
That said, I have a feeling the owners aren't going to put much more money/time than what they've already done into a form of online communication that is extremely dated to the younger crowd. I'm an old timer who loves discussion boards, but the kids today prefer their Chatsnaps and Bookfaces and XYZs.Â

LOL.... I'm an even older-timer.  I've been discussing action figures on-line since back in the days before website discussion boards existed.  We used to go to the old usenet Rec.Toys.Misc to post about action figure collecting back in the day.  Back then guys like Michael Crawford and Toy Otter frequented those groups as fans.  I remember when Eric Myers set up the web-site Raving Toy Maniac (RTM acronym as a play on Rec.Toys.Misc) with Toy Otter's help and when they set up their first discussion board I used to post there all the time back in the mid to late 1990's
Â
I'm a dinosaur who will stomp around in these tar swamps of online discussion boards until I die and fossilize.  No Chatsnaps or TwiXters for me 🙂

When I first found this forum, it was filled with information about when figures were coming out to where they were being found. This helped to hunt for stuff instead of constantly checking the stores especially after gas prices would rise or not having time to look. Now after the blip, not a lot of people returned and there doesn't seem much to post about. Everyone seems to be losing interest in the McFarlane line. I think I'm done at the end of this year unless something really catches my eye.Â
There still seems to be a lot of posting on the Marvel forum as opposed to the DC forum. I was never someone who posted a lot. I still check the forums on my breaks at work or some downtime at home. There was always something to read about. Before the blip, it just got out of control when someone would post something to push someone's buttons and instead of ignoring it there were 5-6 pages of nothing to do with the topic of the forum.Â
McFarlane started out with new sculpts since the line was new. But now they're turning into cookie cutter figures that a lot of people complain about. The new Red Tornado figure that was previewed is from the Alan Scott figure. You can see the belt buckle (which is not part of Red Tornado's costume) and Red Tornado has a collar around his neck for the cape, not the 2 round buttons.Â
I never loved the Multiverse figures. Some were nice and I have bought many of the figures, but usually on sale and I didn't care if I missed out on anything. I liked the Batman 66 figures, but I don't want them getting away from the live action show. I don't want to see all comic book figures or animation figures in this line. I like the Super Powers line, but we'll see where that goes as well. I don't care for the tiny Page Punchers. I would only get an Atom figure if they made one in this line.Â
Sorry, that's me giving my long ramble.Â
The thing that made it so easy to drop in and chat was Tapatalk.
I personally dont like Tapatalk. i found myself looking at these forums 24/7 with Tapatalk LOL
Without Tapatalk, i can control my obsession alittle more, i just use the toy forums when im home on my Laptop.
