Facebook Marketplace and sell stuff in lots.  You'll get both the local fans like yourself, as well as people who buy stuff in bulk to try to pass off for more.

....as well as scammers.

I saw this post over my long weekend and decided to do just this.  I put a $150 lot of McFarlane Multiverse on Marketplace.

No lie, the very first person to reach out to me told me he was from an organization that donates toys to kids across the US for Christmas and would I like to donate my $150 lot?  UGH!  Since June I've made a conscious effort to sell more outside of feebay and since then I've added more than a half dozen names to my block list.  There is no best place to sell, unfortunately.

Honestly, if you're like me and you DO want to unload quick and in bulk, taking it to a reseller is almost worth the loss, especially if there's one you like to support.  I have a LCS run by some great people, so I support them that way, I get SOMETHING in my pocket, I get space freed up immediately, and I don't have to deal with fees, flakes, and frauds.  To me that is sometimes worth not getting full market value for your stuff.

Selling something for $30 on eBay minus $10 shipping minus $4 in fees is $16 in profit. Then if you sold off more than $600 of stuff on eBay in one year, you have to include this on your taxes. As fun as it is to calculate cost of goods sold for my figures, I also find it's easier to unload them cheap at an LCS or in Facebook groups. You usually aren't taking much less and you don't need to deal with the risk of losing it in shipping.

Seeing that Lobo will be $70...maybe my only hesitance is because I'm not a fan of the grinning head sculpt. The bike is an amazing sculpt with good paint apps. Same with Dawg. Probably still a pickup even if it's on the expensive side.

I still don't understand how the guvment can justify making us pay taxes on goods that are often sold at a loss. For example, if I paid $25 for a figure, and then I sell it for $20 on eBay (minus fees and shipping, etc.) I maybe walk away with $15 (or less). So, Ive actually lost $10 on that sale. That is not income!! So how can I be taxed on that as if it's profit, when it's clearly not.

Or, even if I double my money on what I sell. Say I paid $300 for several figures that I sell on eBay, and I make a total of $600 on all of the sales. That's still only a profit of $300, not $600. So how can they tax the full amount as if it were 100% income? I don't know too many people getting rich reselling action figures on eBay that they paid retail prices for.

I still don't get that. Seems very unfair. If someone is a CPA around here, maybe they can explain it to me.

You can't be taxed on a loss -  so as far as the IRS goes you just have to provide them with an itemized list of what you sold the item for and what you bought it for and only if the total PROFIT is greater than $600 will you owe taxes on it.  Now, obviously it's hard to provide receipts for items you may have bought 5, 10 or 20 years ago, but the internet is good at providing the original MSRP for items and you can use that as evidence of your cost if you were to be audited - which is unlikely.

Sorry... double post for some reason -  but don't let the fear of the tax man stop you from selling your stuff.

Exactly this.  Make an Excel spreadsheet and ad things as they go. Tabulate cost of goods, shipping, etc.

Thanks for the info, bro. I was hoping it was something like that. But where the IRS is concerned you just never know.

@wil yeah the inconsistent scaling has been driving me nuts. My favorite suit is Batman’s Rebirth suit but he’s way too small, so I hope we get a New 52 Batman with proper scaling

Jumped on this even though it was slightly more expensive that I expected. Will be happy to have the Space Hog!

Got the Spacehog PO'd. I had a meeting today that started at noon and didn't get out until almost 3pm. Thought sure I'd miss the window. Was happy to see it was still available to order.

Couldn't resist ordering the Main Man, his Dawg and Spacehog.

Now give us a Val Semieks style Demon to go with him please!

Monday, October 23, I was supposed to receive the Batman 6 pack from Amazon. It did not get delivered. I received a sorry email from Amazon and it said if I didn't receive the package by October 26 the next day I could ask for a refund. I did not receive the package on October 26 so today, October 27 I asked for a refund and got it. If it gets deleivered I just have to send it back.

The only notifications that I have gotten about the package is the carrier picked up the package on October 20 and today I received a notification that the package was in a facility in Batltimore, MD. I'm glad I changed my mind, I didn't need doubles of everything except Kilmer.

If I was a lowlife I could open the package, take out all of the figures and replace them with 6 worthless Marvel Legends figures I don't want.

Six pack was worth it to me cause I wanted Kilmer (though I'm sure we will get a forever wave) and the bat signal and I had uses for the other figures.

It's also just a really cool set. I ordered lobo set mainly for the bike.
