I would think a Nicholson Joker would cost more than a Phoenix Joker. So a Nicholson Joker might come with a playset and additional figures like the Phoenix Joker, but cost more than $250.
Hey!! We're back!
Or, at least, I'm back lol I've been trying to login for a loooooong time, and it kept telling me I failed the math problem. The board looks better now, hopefully it stays up.
I got in the Superman/Fate/Two-Face trio yesterday from the McFarlane store. Superman is outstanding, I think it's the best Superman in the entire line. We started a youtube channel recently, and I reviewed him last night (hope it's okay to post it here) . I'll have videos up for Fate and Two-Face tomorrow/Thursday.
Hey!! We're back!
Meh, Give it about 3 weeks, it will go out again LOL
Hey glad to be here. So of course no one knows more than the next person, but what do you guys think the odds are that we get a Thurman Poison Ivy re-release? I'd be fine with getting one of her different looks, the green bodysuit with cone hair buns would be my preference and was the version in all the publicity shots for the movie. I am bewildered why he went with silver suit Carrey Riddler re-release (and not her) when the regular figure is still a peg warmer. Is there any logic to it other than Todd and his preferences?
I'm so happy they're doing the Returns line, although it was a cheap move to release the single Keaton '89 right before announcing; I wouldn't have bought that if I knew Returns was coming, which I guess was the logic. I agree that the beating around the bush of whether we'll get Nicholson or not is not helping matters. Certainly hope he gets a single figure release if it happens and not as a pack-in to a $250 parade float exclusive or anything. I imagine if they got the likeness rights they'd milk that figure as much as they can, but time is running out with the license expiring next year. Hopefully it could still happen someday as part of DC Direct maybe, but in the back of my head I do still think it'll come next year as a surprise '89 line.
The going in reverse release order with the toylines for '89-'97 films was a mistake imo; more people would've bought the B&R figs to fill out the line if it was last, many people passed when they didn't know if Forever or the Burton films were coming, hence why Ivy is $$$ on the secondary market.
@therealsmallville That was a great review. 👏
I also used $20 off at the McF Store for the set. Strangely they've disappeared now. Funny how he fell over when you mentioned Kingdom Come. Mine kept falling over face first when i was posing him for photos & also has the etch mark on the left shoulder ring.
Even though this is being sold by Walmart, it may actually ship directly from the McF Store.

Thank you for checking it out! I appreciate that...we're a very young channel, so I'm still trying to "find my voice", as it were. Thank you for the kind words! I know better than to count on these guys to stand on their own without bases or assistance, and yet I keep forgetting to take 2 seconds to put one on lol I did make sure Dr. Fate stayed upright in my review for him, that one goes up today at 3pmEST (shameless plug, again).
I noticed that the bundle had disappeared off of the store, I thought that was strange. Usually out of stock items just say "out of stock", so I wonder if there is any significance to it. To be honest, I don't think I looked to see if they were still listed individually or not. I was pretty surprised to find the point system, since I'm not in the collectors club, but the $20 off was nice. Too bad you can't use the 10% code with it. When the bundle arrived at my door, I found a scratch card inside the box that gave me another 25 points so I have just enough now to get another $20 off. That's a nice little system they have there.
The Year One Batman and Gordon being Walmart exclusives is strange to me. I've visited three Walmarts in the last two weeks, and none of them have a McFarlane presence in the toy aisle anymore. Two of them had a couple Collectors Edition figures in the electronics area, and a couple DC Direct, but that's it. Maybe 4-5 figures in total. The rest are all gone. Is this happening everywhere? A response to the license change next year, or is it due to some characters coming with guns again?
Dr. Fate went live a little early (hey, he's a doctor, he does what he likes)
I got the notice that Deadshot and Adam Strange have shipped from Game Stop and should be here this week. So yay for me?
First post in a while. I'm going to air my random DC figure thoughts:
I absolutely knew McFarlane Batman Returns figures were coming. When it was announced Todd was loosing the master license, I still did not give up hope. I'm very excited for them.
I am also not giving up hope on 89 Joker. This is a long shot. I do not consider it a lock the way Returns figures were. As far as the window of opportunity goes, the clock is ticking. As far as likeness rights goes, if Beast Kingdom can get them, Todd can, if the sculpting is on its A game. The crystal ball is hazy on this one.
I'm glad to see a Superman figure being made from the new movie and I'm glad there is a Krypto figure included. I slept on mullet Supes with the Krypto and now Krypto alone sells for $70 at auction 🙁
Speaking of Supes, that digital Supes looks like it might be one of the best figures of the year.
Mattel gets the master license, fine. Why can't Todd still make his 7" figures? TMNT is licensed to every toy company with a pulse, DC can't do something similar? The last I hear Todd said there are still negotiations going on. Maybe this line continues somehow?
I think that's all my DC thoughts for now. I'd go over and do the same with Marvel, but I don't know if I have much beyond "Don't know if I should cancel my Maximum Spider-Man or not".

So, the short answer is because Mattel paid a boatload of money for the MASTER license so there's no way they are letting Todd in. There is no way when they were writing up the deal that they left a big enough loop hole for DC to hand a separate 7 inch figure license to Todd. Mattel is still bitter that they lost the license to Todd years ago - I just don't see them playing nice about it.

I think Todd could make '89 Joker work, it would sell like gangbusters. Beast Kingdom's Joker is fantastic, they did a very nice job with it, but they charged around $125 and only released one figure. Todd would probably release Jack's Joker in regular, platinum, red platinum, gold label, MTS Exclusive, etc. Lots of looks to release and get the most out of that license.
I wasn't expecting the digital Superman to be as great as it is, especially considering we've seen this buck several times now, but the colors and the head sculpt and the body come together to just make pretty much the best Superman in the line. Does anyone know which body the Superman vs Godzilla is on?
