Yup. And people call those other companies out too. Nobody said this was a Mac exclusive problem. We just want companies to learn to use a ruler in the case one day an ML Puck becomes larger than ML Wolverine.
No one is claiming that the people running those companies are raging egomaniacs. Hasbro gave us plenty of out of scale figures over the years. Their Kitty Pryde from the Juggernaut wave may as well have been from a 7 inch line.
So... did Icon sell out at GameStop? Is it not supposed to be available yet? Is it a GameStop exclusive? What is the deal with Icon? And why does the link say "Icon and Rocket" when the package very clearly only says Icon?
I'm super confused.... trying to buy McFarlane figures is honestly the most exhausting and irritating process.
@jtmarsh The potential for the rubber degrading and warping has been my biggest (non aesthetic) worry. I know nothing about the materials he uses - is crumbling and splitting likely over time pretty likely? I've never really collected figures that use soft plastic or rubber like this. (My favorite figure in the line, the back of the, ah, underoos keeps folding under his torso joint so I know that's going to wear down if I do more than leave him mostly in a static pose.)
@panthercult I was successfully able to order him earlier today but it appears the page has since been removed. He still shows up in my Orders page. I have no idea what is going on, but in general I've never been impressed with Gamestop's website. I was also hoping to order him from my local store when I stop in this weekend so that I can avoid the shipping $7 shipping from the website, but who knows?!? McFarlane themselves sent out an email with a link to the Gamestop page so I can't imagine that Gamestop jumped the gun.
"You make for a glowing review of what we get for our $30 and some hassle trying to get this."
It's not a glowing review I'm just a customizer telling people who want to fix the issue you are complaining about how they might fix it. I guess I can just sit here and bitch if that's preferred. TOY BAD!
This was not meant as a dig toward you. Merely being facetious about the nature of these toys and all that must be done to get them to where they should be at release. More in line with finding out that a model of car you've always wanted has massive electrical problems and various recalls on it before you ever test drive it. I appreciate the insight, and my intended intonation may not translate in text form as it's intended. But my meaning was meant as a "*Sigh* McFarlane" when hearing what the mechanic/customizer/you tell(s) us all the things that are already a problem on this "model."
As you said, the cost and potential to mess up a figure that isn't going to be easy to replace cheaply is its own dismay before any cuts are even made.

Yeah, I've adopted the view of "store these in vanilla pose or it'll be my own fault" outlook. Even then, the subduction of the diaper into the joint is disconcerting on its face. I've already accepted that in 15 years the diapers may all crumble and I'll have to hope innovative fans will start printing replacements of some sort, or I'm going to be left with a tote full of DC figures that all look like they died via "SnuSnu" like in Futurama.
@jtmarsh cool. Sorry for misinterpreting, it's hard to tell sometimes. A lot of people are (understandably) upset about these particular toys so it's kind of walking on eggshells. I'll go ahead and delete my reply.
Just on a related note, I do wish these things had the GI Joe Classified-style setup, where they have a base crotch with the diaper over it. With those it's a lot safer to cut higher into the diaper (whether it be the consumer or McFarlane) and protects the diaper from bending because it's protected by hard plastic.
And really, my original reply was being facetious, too. Todd cares too much about how the toy looks in a box because that's what he wants to see on the resale market for 500% retail down the line. As for the pins, she does at least have pinless legs, I'm guessing he just didn't want to make new pinless arms. Overall a big pass for me.
What? Same exact thing happened to me. Once is a dumb mistake. But twice?I ordered Red Hood's bike off Amazon. They sent me a Super Powers Riddler.
I had to arrange a return. A new bike is on the way, but now I had to go out of my way to visit a UPS store to return Riddler, when it was 100% not my fault.
I did receive a proper Red Hood bike as the replacement.
McFarlane has scale issues. Other companies have scale issues. Two wrongs don't make a right, as someone probably said.

No worries, such is the nature of posting online for strangers to read. You make a good point re: the GI Joe stuff. Also with the notion that Todd himself is not only keenly aware of the speculators reselling these but also himself being somewhat of a speculator too. I don't know why it's of a concern when you have that much money but I assume it's an ego thing. I didn't even notice she had pinless legs, I'll have to look again. Starfire didn't even get that. In the end I just want figures that looks great, function well, and last. Seeing that she's taller than some of the actual Amazonian characters make me think Big Barda is going to be a megafig whenever she shows up.
We should always call every company out in their faults, and yes including Jada and Hasbro. We don’t criticize, they get complacent. Quality dips. Continuous improvement should be a thing or else we get things like out of scale figures or even joints that bite your fingers.
I always worry about if the rubbery diapers/crotch piece will hold up over time too. Especially after moving and posing the figures a lot.
it may be 10 or more years, but I always wonder if they will crack or disintegrate. I always worried about stuff like that with Mezco One:12 DC figures as well. Would stuff disintegrate, would the fabric outfits ever lose their stretchiness and bag up or be really loose, and so on.
Honestly today, I looked at Tempest and Dark Flash and thought of preordering, but I didn't. I recently jumped back into this line a bit, and make no mistake, I'm happy with everything I got. But between all the characters and figures I have from this line, then the countless other DC lines I have collected over the year, I just had this feeling of "I'm good" today.
I think I will get Guy Gardner just to go with all the other cool Lanterns we've got in this line. But after that, I think I'm done.
Between all the DC toys I have, then the fact of just the absolute chore this line can be to collect with sell outs, Platinum Chase figures, exclusives galore, etc. I just don't really need anymore.
And honestly, there are a few vintage DC pieces I don't have I'd like to get, and I'd rather my money go to that.
Realized last night that Fire is pretty much the same base body as Catwoman, except with a different diaper to accommodate her waist flames, which pull off with minimal hole-age. So it could theoretically be repainted into a pretty close 90s Catwoman.
I only bought Fire for her head so I have the body and I don't have a Catwoman. Has anyone seen this done? Or know of any good alt heads for Selina? Or is a Catwoman re-issue likely?
@panthercult Can't help with your other questions, but the "Icon and Rocket" in the link is there because this Icon figure is based on the Icon and Rocket season one comic book.
Icon looks really good, imo. He's actually kind of tempting. Just wish there was a better looking Static figure to go with him.
