McFarlane makes it clear constantly that he doesn't care about scale at all. I even remember watching a video with him and Shartimus where he basically stated as much. He basically poo-pooed that people even care about it at all. It was clear to me that he was not aligned with the collector community on this point.

PG should be shorter, but stick her in an action pose and you won't notice it much. I'm still glad I ordered 2.

Buzzed for Icon, will grab Tempest too, probably Flash when he eventually gets to the UK or for a lower price on AE.

I've been really hoping since I saw Icon was coming, does this open up the world of WildCATs too?  I mean I know there's been rumblings some time ago they were on the agenda.  Surely Watchmen and Sandman too, I mean Todd ain't losing this licence any time soon, so eventually they'll surely come.  Would just love a Spartan and Majestic especially man!

I don't know how much call there is for WildCATs stuff, but they made Grifter way back so it doesn't seem totally impossible. I assume Icon being made is more because he has some semi-recent comics and gets used in ancillary media at times. And Milestone has a decent footprint because McDuffie's a legend and Static was such a big deal. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Milestone characters show up in Gunn-era DC media, but honestly, I could see that happening with Wildstorm characters too.

I, uh. Would not hold out much hope for Sandman characters at this juncture.

Heh. Yeah, no chance of Sandman stuff.

Sigh. You let us all down, Neil.

The details are hideous and anyone unfamiliar with the story should probably just read the Lila Shapiro article for New York, which I believe is available from Vulture online. But he recently got dropped by Dark Horse, who canceled all upcoming projects with him. It seems entirely possible at this point that DC could quietly stop reprinting the Sandman trades.

Neil Gaiman has been accused by eight women of sexual misconduct -  including sexually assaulting his kids babysitter,   engaging in non-consensual  BDSM activities,  among other things.    Gaiman claims all activities were consensual though he was 'careless with people's hearts and emotions'.      So, even if he didn't break the law his behavior was probably pretty gross,  but he might also have broken the law....

This is exactly why I don't keep tabs on any movie star, artist, or writer even if I like their work.  My guess is a lot more of them are scum than what is generally known.  Then I feel guilty enjoying/consuming their work.  I've actually never read Sandman, it's always been on my to-do list.  Do I still go ahead and dive into it someday?  If I rent it from the library he doesn't get any residuals, right?

I just called out Amazon. Amazon itself is selling SHAZAM for $49.99! I got in touch with customer service and asked them when did Amazon itself become a scalper. They asked what do you mean. I then started to explain and point out the listing for SHAZAM. The person on the other end said they would bring this up. I said I'm pretty sure you will, thank you for your time you have been very helpful.

It's ridiculous.  Hasbro lines have been over MSRP as well.  What happens is they put up a tiny amount for preorder, scalpers buy them up and then crank up the price to ridiculous amounts, and Amazon sees those prices and says, "well I guess that's what they're worth!" and undercuts them just enough to look like they're pricing things low.  Walmart is now doing the same thing.  I'm buying everything possible on Entertainment Earth, Target, etc from here on, fuck walmart and amazon.  I really wish everyone could band together and not pay over MSRP to the biggest scalpers on the planet.

I wouldn't be surprised if McF and Hasbro in particular are making pre-order amounts smaller knowing this cycle exists, which in turn inflates the perceived value of their pieces of plastic.

I hate that Power Girl is that tall.  She seems so out of place.  I know Todd has been all over with some of the size and heights of these figures, but this is the first one that really bothers me.

I'll probably keep my pre order, but it's annoying to think of her as tall or taller than everyone in the collection

Power Girl stats wise is 5ft11 but so is Huntress and Batwoman and look how Huntress looks in that video next to PG. However PG nor WW should be taller than Martian Manhunter much less Superman. McFarlane has stated in interviews if you don't like it don't buy it so there is that. I just wished he had started the line with base bodies and have his sculptors work off those bodies.

I think if we don't separate art from artist, then there will be less and less art to enjoy because nearly everyone has a skeleton or two in their closet. Having said that, some people aren't comfortable supporting the art going forward.

Here's what I do: when someone like Gaiman, Kevin Spacey, Mel Gibson, etc comes along and reveals themselves to the world as a _____, I stop supporting their work/art in the future but I have zero issues supporting their previous stuff. Maybe I'm just strange, but it seems like if something is out in the world (Sandman, in this case) and it is viewed by millions to be an icon in its genre, should I deprive myself of the enjoyment of taking in that piece of art that so many others have enjoyed? Should I hold myself to some invisible standard that only I am aware of, and not get to experience this thing that has brought so much to so many others?

The answer, for me, is "of course not." I wont' support their work in the future, but previously released stuff is fair game. After all - if we can't enjoy something good that a bad person made, then all that's left is a bad person. Their mark on the world was just...bad. I say we enjoy the things that made us like them in the first place, but we don't need to give future support. Royalties and kickbacks are part of the deal, unfortunately, but it is what it is. For me, that's separate from the bad person because if I enjoy something, I'm fine with the person who created it being rewarded for it. Bad person or not, if something affected me personally then there's not much I can do about that...they still made it, bad or no. As for your question about libraries, no - royalties were received when the book(s) were purchased, but libraries are safe.

I guess.

I mean, are we going to stop listening to Thriller every Halloween?  No.  No way.

MJ is another good example. There's lots of his music I enjoy, I'm a child of the 80's so it was obviously everywhere. I liked him a lot. Unfortunately, my taste in music - that little seed in my brain that decides what it gets dopamine from and what doesn't - has no idea about outside forces involving MJ's personal life, nor does it care. It's very caveman, very "hear song! like song!" lol I like what I like, regardless of the outside attachments. Seeing what happened to the legacy has zero effect on the enjoyment of Thriller, for me. It's just a great song, and a great video. Can't help it.
