Unrelated to anything being spoken about right now, I put the CAG19 mod kit from RamenToys on my McFarlane 89 Batmobile and it looks SO much better, it really looks like the spiritual successor to the Batman Returns "Batmissile" Batmobile from Kenner that I loved so much as a kid. Best $30 I ever spent.
On the subject of cloth capes, I've had 2 capes have mold on them (Super7 mummy Mum-Ra and Mafex TNBA Batman). I just washed them by hand and they've been fine ever since. No idea what caused it and no other cloth capes have done this.
I'm also wanting to upgrade to wired capes across my entire collections so I brought a sewing kit to try myself before I buy any third ones.
I hate, haaaaate those little plastic wires that hold them in place. Masterverse kills me with this too. I have very dumb cat I need to stop from trying o eat them when they go flying out of my hand when I'm opening a new figure. Let the plastic shell be enough to secure these lil guys, I'm beggin' ya toy industry....
Or... just the one around the chest! The clamshell takes care of the rest.
But yes, needing small scissors around to open a McF figure is kind of hilarious.
Put me down in the "hates soft goods / cloth capes" category.
That's why I was so happy when I found out the new Batman/Spawn Platinum Batman single release figure had a molded cape instead of a cloth/wired one. I'm especially glad because it's fast become my favorite Batman figure and it may be the last McFarlane Batman we get with a plastic/rubber cape instead of cloth. But I'm cool with that.
Some of the McFarlane ones are as stiff as any plastic cape, the wires thick and bulky.
The new Silver Age Batman has this sort of cape. It poses terribly and can't sit naturally due to the thick wires, heavy paper-like material (two layers of it), and length.
I think the wire and cape material on the Clock King McF figure could legit double for a hang glider rigging and material. More unwieldy than any plastic cape.
I've been pretty down on McFarlane this week, but I'm just going to admit, and I think this makes me the wrong kind of DC collector... Wildcat's the most fun I've had with a McFarlane figure since White Knight Batman. He's got great ROM, smooth joints, great poseability, his neck joint is expressive and smooth, and his wrists and ankles are really well done to hide the mechanics of it so the hands and feet don't look like they're disconnected from the body.
Is he the wrong color? Yes. Is he too lean and short? Yes. Was even the packaging minimum effort? Yes. Did he come with zero accessories? Yes. But I have been messing with this figure all evening. I love him. I'd buy him again in all black.
Orion is a similar vibe for me. All the same issues. He's too skinny, as a design he's borderline boring, but he can move and pose and stand and just had great vibes overall. The leanness of Orion is, for some reason, a little more disappointing but I like him - even getting his rig on and off is very smooth and not a hassle at all, which I really appreciate.
Wildcat and Orion came in last night from Target. Orion I definitely wanted, but Wildcat was a last-second addition to the cart. I'm very glad I picked him up! He looks very basic in photos, and he still is in person, but he has some very nice detail on his hand wraps and his head sculpt actually looks good in person. He was a good pick up, and a surprisingly nice addition to the collection.
I had ordered 2 Reeve Superman's from Gamestop after hearing the legend that if you order 2 then you had a good chance at getting the Platinum thanks to some intrepid Gamestop employees who were hooking people up; no clue if it's actually true, but I gave it shot. They were slowed down in shipping due to the fires in California, but they finally arrived today and I'm looking forward to cracking them open when I get home and finding out if I have good fortune or if my general cursed-ness in winning the lottery (so to speak) on the McFarlane line continues!
I got in Wildcat, but I'm still waiting on Orion. I really like Wildcat a lot. I keep posing him in fighting stances, and he just looks awesome.
I also got some figures I still needed recently as I play catch up. I am almost completely caught up from where I took a break, through like half of 2024 on everything in this line accept Batman related figures.
I got lucky and caught Hawkman at retail price back on Amazon. I also got Psycho Pirate and Kid Flash (and finished the Monitor BAF), as well as Steel and the Question. And I got Blue Energy Superman and I am just waiting on BBTS to get in John Stewart and I can finish the Plastic Man BAF.
Wildcat's art on the back being a photo of the figure run through a Photoshop filter, when there exists decades of art to choose from, is pathetic.
I received Orion and Wildcat yesterday. Both are okay, nothing spectacular about either for me. The body used for both don't bother me either. Orion has been most of the time drawn the same size as Superman and he is using a body used for Superman. Wildcat using the same body makes no difference either. Mister Terrific, my most wanted figure this year is a major disappointment for me. The wrong body used and the head sculpt should be bigger. He is for me the most disappointing figure so far this year. McFarlane could have at least for the chase updated the jacket to be more comic accurate.
@therealsmallville I did the same but for the JL Task Force Batman, Superman and Flash. I ordered the three from Gamestop hoping to get the Platinum versions. I came across the Platinum version of Aquaman at Gamestop. They haven't shipped yet from Gamestop so maybe this week.

I am happy to report, it worked! I can't post a pic currently, but I opened it up & found both the regular Reeve & the Platinum. That was pretty cool.
@casimir I saw the pic of the figure on the back of the box, said "wow, ZERO effort" out loud, but loved the figure itself. Can really tell which characters he loves and which characters he makes as throwaway figures. I recycle all the boxes anyway, but I was like - heck, you could take a better photo of the figure with some dramatic lighting and have more appealing box art.
Such a weird dichotomy for me though cos he might actually be my favorite figure in this line. Zero effort actually led to really nice smooth mechanics for the toy itself, like nobody tried to get tricksy with it and a normal action figure popped out in the end.

I got mine last week. It makes the car look exactly like it should which......should have been the goal from the manufacturer. But you're right, $30 later the thing is just about perfect.
I don't know if I should just give up on two seater Batmobiles. I mean, no one displays these with the canopies open anyway whether there's a figure in there or not. Let's just pretend there's two seats in all of these.
