I am not a huge DC guy, so this is the line I cherry pick most.

I enjoy the more obscure and/or less popular characters, so Wildcat is a great addition.

I had planned on picking up Orion as well, but I am not a fan of the head sculpt. McFarlane and his brick chins...

I'd get Wildcat if he were on a bulkier body like Waverider or even something with proportions like Captain Carrot.

Agreed. I don't mind the off-model mask; it looks cool. But the build is a deal breaker for me. Likewise with Orion: too lean, legs too long, and who the heck makes an Orion without alternate fists?!

Saw Orion was in stock at Target.com....  had $50 in Target gift cards registered in the app,  figured why not and pulled the trigger.    Available for pick up in 2 hours.     He's not perfect but he'll work in in the display where I have a plan for him.

Also, if you gave me the choice of Hasbro taking over the DC license or McFarlane taking over the Marvel license, I’d definitely go with McFarlane doing Marvel figures. I mean who wouldn’t love a McFarlane Multiverse Spider-Man figure (or The Hulk) done in Todd’s art style? That would be insanely cool.

1000% ME.    I would definitively NOT love that.   I would hard drop collecting Marvel figures if that is what happened.

@panthercult Yep. I’ve liked some of the last few years of McFarlane DC toys but I don’t like the cloth capes. I’m sorry they don’t scale well. They look like dishrags stuffed on their shoulders.  I mean I get the idea and why people would want them but they just don’t look like the item at all at that small scale. They bunch up, appear to defy gravity don’t sit right across shoulders. Some of the McFarlane ones are as stiff as any plastic cape, the wires thick and bulky. What are they using? The action figure packaging twist tie wire?

The distinction between ML being “kids toys” and others being “adult collectibles” is pretty silly. Any time someone associates “adult” with big 2 comic outputs what they are describing is adolescent at best usually.

The new Silver Age Batman has this sort of cape.  It poses terribly and can't sit naturally due to the thick wires, heavy paper-like material (two layers of it), and length.  Meanwhile I find the cape on the First Appearance non-chase Batman to be good.  Tt feels a lot more lightweight and poses well.  The Platinum FA Batman's cape is two layers, inner and outer, and doesn't pose nearly as well.  Long story short, from here-on I'll be watching reviews to see how the capes pose before buying because the execution is all over the map.

Personally I love the idea of a well-executed cloth cape but dang if the McF ones haven't been, overall, below-average quality.  Some other domestic brands, like Jada's M. Bison, and Mattel's Masterverse Deluxe King Grayskull have been done much better, and just on a whim, just done once in their respective lines.  It helps that those capes actually feel like clothing and not paper, and they aren't just attached via glue into a mold that wasn't made for a cloth cape.  Todd needs to start from scratch with a new Batman mold made to fit a cloth cape instead of half-hearted "upgrades" to existing molds.

Just an aside, I wonder if these paper McF capes pose better if you wash them with some gentle detergent and soften them up a bit?  I might try it with Silver Age Bats because he's just not doing much for me as-is.

I can't speak for everyone, of course, but for me anytime I hear someone mention "kids toys" vs "adult collectibles", it's typically in regards to the quality of plastics and paint.

For example, and again - this is only a personal anecdote and it means very little - my Dad came to our house this year for Christmas, instead of vice versa, and at one point he was looking around at everything. I have my McF DC stuff, some (not a ton) Marvel Legends, and I also have some sentimental things from when I was a kid sitting out, like my original wave 1 TMNT from the 80's, my Toybiz 89 Batman, etc. My dad looked at the McF stuff and pointed out how far these "figurines" have come since I was a kid; when he was looking at my Marvel Legends, he asked me if those were some of the ones I had as a kid. I told him that they were modern, and he said "oh, gotcha."

Again, a pointless anecdote involving a 70 year old man, but a lot of Legends do "look" like kids toys compared to a lot of McF DC stuff to those who aren't in the game of collecting them. Obviously that doesn't apply to everything, and maybe that's not what people mean when they make the comparison, but the plastics used in Legends often "appear cheap" compared to the plastics used in Multiverse and it can, definitely, give an impression of quality. I do find the McF figures to be less gummy than the Legends (the accessories are a different story), although my Legends purchases are often more on the female side than the bulkier males. And, for what it's worth, I've found some expensive offerings from Mafex to be lacking in paint and plastic quality to where you would swear the McF and Marvel Legends were the expensive ones. So it all comes down to taste.

I personally detest cloth capes and soft goods in general. If you don't have an enclosed display (and maybe even if you do) the soft goods become dust magnets (and most would never survive "washing"). While you can wipe down plastic, once those soft goods get dirty, forget about it (especially anything light in color).

Went on Target's website yesterday and they had Orion and Wildcat in stock, so I put one of each in my cart and figured it would be nice to get free shipping. Then, when I went to check out, I noticed that the "pick-up" option was automatically selected for me. So I took a closer look and realized they had the figures in stock at my local Target for pick-up. So I placed my order. (Then I waited for it to be cancelled because they weren't really in stock). But to my shock and delight an hour and a half later I had them hand. Unbelievable! I thought it would be weeks before I ever got my hands on those figures. A really nice surprise.

My point is that I've almost pretty much semi-dropped collecting Marvel figures already. Not because I don't like Marvel or Marvel Legends, but because I now have almost every character that I really want, made to a quality standard that I'm very happy with.

So, you would be hard pressed to get me to buy another Spider-Man, Daredevil, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Black Panther, Vision, Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye, Wonder Man, Beast, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Storm, Colossus, Rogue, Gambit, Fantastic Four, Doctor Doom, Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Sandman, Lizard, Venom, Carnage, Thanos, Loki… (well, you get the picture).

So, I wouldn’t get rid of my Marvel Legends, but it would be cool to see what Todd would do with some Marvel characters. Because, like I said, we already pretty much know what a Hasbro ML style Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash and Green Lantern would look like. But with McFarlane you can still get surprised.

So, if I had a choice, I’d personally choose McFarlane Marvel over Hasbro DC.

Yeah - but my point is I buy 100 Marvel Legends figures a year and I would STOP buying altogether if they switched to McFarlane as the manufacturer.    So -  would Marvel rather add you and lose me -  or keep me and not get you?

Well, I'm sure we won't really have to worry about it since this is more a "what-if" / fantasy football kind of an exercise that will very likely never come to pass.

In the simplest terms, if it came down to it, I guess I would rather own a McFarlane Marvel Multiverse Spider-Man figure over a Hasbro DC Legends Batman figure.

Even though I'd still buy a Hasbro DC Legends Batman figure (and other DC characters) if they existed. But you would not buy any McFarlane Marvel Multiverse figures. So, I guess it would be better for the economy if Hasbro keeps the Marvel license. LOL

Mini lint rollers work wonders on cloth capes.

The Platinium Reeve Superman I bought from the prize draw "win" (lol, I still find that hilarious) arrived today. I still don't even have the regular version yet (Amazon Australia posted it last week, should arrive this week or next).

I'm one of the few who LOVES Superman 3. Probably because I grew up with it, I loved the first 3 movies in particular, but 3 just is so bad it's good and has some amazing stuff in it, particularly the evil Superman. So I'll cherish this figure. Kind of don't want to unbox him, would love to get a second one to open. But this thing cost me $80 so that ain't happening any time soon!

Just speaking of cloth goods, weirdly, the only cloth goods I've liked lately - including even Mafex - has been the more fitted capes Mythic Legions have put out lately. I don't think they could do a Batman style cape either, but I just did a pop and swap with a riding cloak length cloth cape on a Legions figure and I cannot stop posing it (it's wired). Like, legit the most dramatic, dynamic cloth cape I have in my collection. Funniest part is it was intended as a kilt. It'd work great on a Robin or Batgirl who don't need the volume of cloth Batman does.

I'll be cracking open three Todd figures this week so I'm not a hater, but the idea of a Todd Spidey is kind of absurd for posing. I'd pay cash money to get a Nightwing with the range of motion any Spidey Legends figure has had in the past three years, or a Black Canary on the recent Warbird buck. In all sincerity my favorite Wonder Woman figure in my entire collection is the Legends Power Princess. The fun factor between the lines isn't even in the same galaxy for me. I think the toys vs. collectibles thing is odd, but I understand it and just accept that in my heart... man I want good toys, not good collectibles.

But like I said, I'm about to quiiiiietly try to get Batman Earth 2 out of the package tonight without bothering the missus. Can we at least all agree it requires multiple tools and an engineering degree to get these figures out of the box? I hate, haaaaate those little plastic wires that hold them in place. Masterverse kills me with this too. I have very dumb cat I need to stop from trying o eat them when they go flying out of my hand when I'm opening a new figure. Let the plastic shell be enough to secure these lil guys, I'm beggin' ya toy industry....
