I received the case from EE and I don't know why McFarlane would do what they did. I mean I wouldn't think EE would ask for this case pack out. The case had two Captain Thunder chase figures and two Red Hood black outfit chase figures. Basically I'm now out of a SHAZAM which should have been a sure thing. Yeah, I wanted a chase Captain Thunder but I also wanted SHAZAM. Oh, if McFarlane were to "get tired" of dealing with the DC license, I would want Hasbro to get the chance even before Jada because for movie figures and Hasbro's face scanning they would knock it out of the park and they actually give you "articulation" in their BAF figures and over sized figures.

@kryptonian Yeah, good deal on the order. Maybe I will get lucky somehow, we'll see. I guess now I have an extra chase Captain Thunder for trade.

I'd take McFarlane over Hasbro any day of the week. Yeah, some of the articulation is not great, some sculpts could be better, but Marvel Legends have looked like kids toys for years.

To each their own but face sculpts and prints on Marvel Legends seem way better than McFarlane's, no? I don't get this critique.

Agreed. Personally, I prefer ML figures over McFarlane’s stuff.

Same. I think I get the critique that Legends feel/look like toys vs. McFarlane, but I think that's my biggest issue with Todd's--almost all of Todd's have some "adult collector" complexity that makes them NOT feel like toys but rather like very posable sculptures. I'd rather have dynamic, functional articulation than the heavy plastic and grandeur of Multiverse. And for real, Hasbro's face sculpts have gotten EERILY good - Legends is strong but Star Wars Black Series could compete with imports (and given the price difference, more than compete), and their Joes look like real people.

I think Todd makes great stuff for people who like what Todd likes, and I reckon I just want really good toys without any of the collectibility games. I think the McFarlane sales style is very prosperous and very smart and knows its audience incredibly well, but it's not what a lot of DC fans are looking for, necessarily.

In the past month I bought two McFarlane Batman figures, a Superman, Starfire, and Captain Boomerang, and they're NICE! But if you stuck those characters on the most recent Legends Daredevil, Ikaris, Carol Danvers, and Gambit bodies, I'd be twice as satisfied.

All that being blabbed, I don't think Todd loses interest soon like he did in Witcher, Critical Role, Princess Bride, ATLA, or all the other weirdly orphaned lines he's done in recent years. DC moves a lot of merchandise.

"Weirdly orphaned" is a great way to explain how those licenses were handled. Though, in the case of ATLA, I wonder if the Netflix show somehow cut all other merchandise since it ceased from every company at the same time.

So has anyone's Silver Age Batman & Bat-Hound  and Dawn of DC Shazam figure shipped from BBTS yet? I got an email from them on 12/23 saying my order would process soon but haven't heard a peep since then. And my order hasn't tendered either. I tried calling this morning since I assumed the had to be back from break by now but they never picked up the phone. I'm starting to get a little nervous since its been nearly 3 weeks since I last heard from them,

I also got an email on 12/23 stating I had various things "arriving and billing soon" - McFarlane Silver Age Batman/Ace, Batman Noel, Christopher Reeve "Movie" Superman, Christopher Reeve PP "Comic" Superman, and the Modoking 'The Flash' Batcycle model kit. Absolutely none of these have ever arrived, I haven't been charged, and there hasn't been a peep from BBTS about it.

Two days ago I canceled my Silver Age Batman because I found him at a Gamestop, and I canceled my movie Reeve at the same time because Gamestop had him in stock so I rolled the dice on the whole "order 2 and probably get a platinum" thing I'd seen people talking about. I will say this is certainly out of character for BBTS, typically when I get the "processing soon" email from them it's at most a couple of days before things arrive. But yeah, this is strange from them.

I'll echo that I've had the same recent experience with BBTS and figured that it might be weather related or holiday/end of year related in terms of them getting their shipments, but it might be that they've started sending these emails earlier before product arrives as well. I've received "processing soon" emails days if not weeks ago for all of the following but none have hit my PoL yet: Masterverse Skelcon, DC Multiverse Simon Baz, Batman vs Godzilla, Silver Age Batman and Ace, Mr Terrific, Flashpoint Batman vs Zoom.

Back to the Hasbro vs McFarlane conversation, for me it's not at all close. I buy way too much from both companies but I only buy McFarlane because I love the DC Comics IP as I actually hate McFarlane's general style, design and scale for all of their lines. I love most of what Hasbro does for Marvel Legends (my primary line for more than 20 years), Joe Classified, Star Wars Black Series and what they've done in the past for Ghostbusters Plasma, Power Rangers Lightning and Indiana Jones Adventure Series. I firmly believe that Mattel had a much better DC Comics comic related product than McFarlane does. McF probably does a much better job than Mattel did with the movie related properties, but I'm primarily a comic based figure collector so don't care as much about the movie/TV stuff personally. I have enjoyed the McFarlane Batmobiles and other vehicles. That's also not to say that I don't have McFarlane figures that I still really like, because I certainly do - but in general I very strongly prefer the work that Hasbro does. That hasn't kept me from buying a ton of DC Multiverse, Spawn, Mortal Kombat, Witcher, Warhammer and assorted anime and other figures from McFarlane in recent years. I'm still one of those that hopes the DC license moves to another company within the next couple of years, but I highly doubt that it happens as I believe that both DC and McFarlane are very happy with their arrangement.

Just in to echo that BBTS has sent me a few processing soon emails over the weeks that have all not hit yet. I'm guessing they're trying to get better at giving people a head's up because, in the past, I've received that processing soon email and then received the "Item has arrived" email within an hour. On some instances I haven't even received a processing soon email. I'll be curious to see if there is some consistency now going forward.

Wonder if this is a way to keep pre-orders from being cancelled. They give the customer hope that it's coming soon so the customer doesn't jump ship to the nearest in-stock retailer. Or, it could be holiday-related.

Similar boat with BBTS.  Processing soon on Copper Kid and the Super Powers JSA 3-Pack prior to the holidays and nothing since.

I had a bunch of items in my PoL at BBTS that were under 5 days to go, so I went ahead and shipped them this morning. Two hours later, that Modoking Batcycle that I got the processing email on 12/23 arrived and hit my PoL lol

Every time, man. Every time 😀 But, at least something showed up from that original batch of processing soon emails.

Edit: And the Reeve S:TM figure hit the PoL, too. I guess it took complaining about it for the universe to make it happen lol

Just to jump in on the Marvel Legends Vs. DC Multiverse debate, I collect both lines, and I really enjoy both lines. And there are unique things about both I enjoy and appreciate.  That being said, I would say I like DC Multiverse figures more than Marvel Legends.

Just a personal preference.  But the size, weight and feel, unique textures on the attires, variety of plastic and cloth goods capes, the articulation, and paint apps on McFarlane DC Multiverse figures just do it for me.  they look and feel very quality, and as I said are a bit bigger than Marvel legends, and they are at the same price point.

And I feel like displayed even DC Multiverse figures look a little more serious, or premium than Marvel Legends.

And again, I love Marvel Legends.  I have a bunch of them.  Just my personal preference does lean towards McFarlane's DC Multiverse figures.

Now, as far as which line is easier to collect, thus feels more enjoyable and less of a hassle?  That goes to Marvel Legends.

It's so funny because so many of those things that you view as positive I see as negatives for the line.   I hate some of the idiotic texture choices Todd includes, just because he seems to think that smooth surfaces are boring.  There is so much extraneous and invented texture added it makes my head hurt.   Like the preivous Green Lantern figures - why are their outfits textured?   Why?    And that's not even mentioning the asinine times where he just paints over texture or costume seams on a reused body part that has no business on the new figure it's included on.   Oy.

I tend to despise cloth capes because stitching cannot be scaled down,  so the stiches used to sew the costumes are still 10 to 12 times too big for the cloth product they are on and I hate how that looks.

And saying the articulation on McFarlane figures is superior to the articulation on Legends is a bit baffling.   There are a lot of bizarre articulation choices, some of which -  the mid foot cut on virtually every figure - lead to problems getting the figure to stand in any sort of natural pose.

As for deco.  Sometimes the paint apps are good and sometimes, again, as Todd is often want to do, there is just extra.  And some of his faces... oof.   The faces on Geo Force fore example, are nightmare fuel.  They are hideously awful and so many rungs below most of Hasbro's current output (Classified Falcone not withstanding).

And while it's definitely gotten better -  the leg length issue has ruined so many McFarlane figures I would have otherwise really liked.   Poor Static,  I was legitimately excited to get that character and then couldn't get away from the figure fast enough when it was 2/3 leg.    Why does he want their legs to be so unnaturally long on everyone?

Anyway -  I'm glad you enjoy it.   It's cool to like the things you like.    I just thought it was interesting that you highlighted things as specific strengths of the line that I definitely see as weaknesses.     Goes to show how different people's perspectives are.   Eye of the beholder and all of that.
