I'm on the new licensee bandwagon, not necessarily because I'm anti-Todd (they've done some good-to-great figures, and of course some really awful ones), but just because I'd like to see someone else get a crack at it. I pretty much only collect Batman figures, so basically now all I'm getting from Todd is the same 2 bucks repainted and with new head sculpts.
Not super familiar with Jada, but from what i've seen, they definitely seem like they would do a good job.
The McF line has never really sat well with me. I have never found it as enjoyable as DCUC. Having said that I am not sure I could envisage starting over again with a new Toy company either. I enjoy what I can from McF and still hope to fill a few collection gaps - classic outsiders team, a few Batfamily/Rogues and some Marvel family.
I do love quite a few of the Multiverse figures (I just picked up Manga Batman and he's just so neat; Hawkman is a fun figure even if I can't get his classic colors without shelling out 85 bucks on eBay) but unlike literally every other line I collect, I'd happy restart my DC from scratch if the license went to Jada, or someone making 1/12 figures with better consistency and articulation. And I say that as someone who was devastated when DC Icons folded - I had the never-released Catwoman sitting in my Amazon wishlist for like four years in denial they'd somehow release her some day. I almost skipped McFarlane entirely because prior to Multiverse I'd never had a figure from him that didn't break or snap at a hip or shoulder, but those early Batman figures were so cool, and when McF DC hits, they do great. I'll still preorder Power Girl and I'm hoping Amazon ships my Robin Earth 2, I'm not out or anything, but would love to see a different scale and style.
Agreed that Jada may not be able to keep up with the output for DC. Street Fighter is super popular but still relatively niche. A big two comic license might bury them production-wise.
Seems the majority here are reluctant McF DC collectors. There's no way they lose the license. Only if they refuse to renew. Jada Toys is an excellent small company that has toy designer, Juhn Lim. He possesses an acute attention to detail because he is a true fan of the Street Fighter series & that's what makes the line great, his perfectionist mindset. If (highly doubtful) they were to do a DC 1/12 line, they'd need someone like him to make the line great.
In regards to Jada, they're killing it with their Street Fighter line but I'd expect that they'd have some capacity issues with producing DC figures at the volume and frequency that we're used to. Any type of attempts to upscale to meet that would like include quality control issues, at least in the beginning.
Speaking hypothetically and not knowing what/if there is a certain number of figures a DC or a Marvel demand that their licensees make, I would say to absolutely stick to the "quality over quantity" approach Jada does with their street fighter stuff.
To be honest, I never thought McFarlane could have scaled up their production of figures. They'd been out of the 6-7 scale action figure market for years, except for Fortnite, and most of their lineup was barely articulated 5 inch scale figures before then they started to get back into it with their Spawn kickstarter.

More likely it's a vocal minority rather than a true majority. Which is usually the case on the internet. People that don't like something tend to speak out more about it because they hope beyond hope that it will somehow change things. While the people who are satisfied with something more often just seem to quietly go with the flow.
For example, I'm not at all a "reluctant McF DC collector". I really like most of what Todd has done with the DC license, but I tend to not to express that opinion too often for fear of getting shouted down by the "mean kids", who absolutely think that McFarlane is the worst thing that ever happened to action figure collecting and that I'm an idiot for thinking otherwise. And furthermore, the 7-inch scale was created by Satan himself, and the only companies that deserving of any praise are Jada Toys, Mafex, and Mezco. That's it!!
😀 😀 😀
Any word when PowerGirl is preorderable? I'm on the fence still, but assume she will be the one to sell out first.
I think they said in the livestream last month it would be late January.

This is honestly sad, and I'm legitimately sorry that's the case. I'm a reluctant casual occasional McFarlane buyer myself - but I hate to yuck someone else's yum. It genuinely makes me sad that you don't feel you can express positive opinions about a line you enjoy - that's a bummer.
And just so you know while I'm not a huge McFarlane fan, I don't buy Mafex and I loathe Mezco with a fiery passion - so...
Cyborg Superman and Eradicator showed up on the McFarlane listings, and didn't I hear that Superboy is coming too?
I got impatient and already went all-in on the Mafex Reign of Supermen figures, just waiting for the Superboy release. I don't have regrets because they are great figures, but if Todd's versions are solid I'll probably pick them up as well.
I don't hate McFarlane for he's done quite more with the DC license than probably any other company would have done. He's took risks for the most part. I just wish he would come up with an idea so as to not release all these platinum figures. I think sometimes he purposely does the platinum chase even though the chase would sell to Walmart, Target and all online stores. That's when I get angry.
The rift between trolling Marvel Legends and trolling McFarlane fans has got to be the worst toy feud I've seen in recent years. I say "trolling" because as others say, it is a vocal minority, a loud group of immature haters. It's worse than little girls arguing about G1 vs G3 Monster High Dolls. Can't swing a dead Catwoman on reddit, instagram, twitter, without finding someone trying to dunk on the opposing brand. It's like crips vs bloods. But for man-babies.
Thankfully Fwoosh users are pretty decent. I think there's more negativity here now than usual but part of that is just a slow release window right now. I think they had some nice figures in 2024 and I look forward to cherry-picking the best figures again in 2025 🤣

Appreciate your balanced reply here. Count me an enthusiastic fan of McFarlane DC (for the most part.) I’m overjoyed that I can buy Bat-products at reasonable prices. I can only afford so many Prime 1 and Sideshow pieces, and having something I can actually "play" with? Big win for me. At the other end of the discussion, I also surpress most of my enthusiasm on the boards for fear of getting thumped by the Scale, Articulation, and Proportion squad. My wife surprised me with a Lego and McFarlane Bat Christmas (she’s awesome) but I only posted one photo for fear of hearing some kind of snark.

These are accurate to the 90s comics versions? I'm in for a comic accurate Eradicator rather than that more modern version we got before. The Mafex looked too anime for my tastes.

No way to tell about accuracy until there's pics. This, after all, is from company that will release a figure titled "classic costume" Superman then sculpt modern details into the costume. With Todd you have to see it before you can get excited.
I went with Mafex a. because they were there ready to buy, b. because they scale with my DCUC stuff, and c. because except for a few 90's looks (Kyle Rayner GL) I could call my 6" DC collection done if I wanted to. With there being so few, I'm more OK spending more but I would not rebuild DC figures at $100 a pop.
I don't know how much Todd bashing I see. I see WTF production choices being called out and that needs to happen. Both of your big domestic toy options, Todd and Hasbro, are remarkably similar. They will both give you some pretty great product, there is a lot out there from Todd and Hasbro that I liked last year. They will also both make infuriating choices that are 100% preventable at no cost to them to the point where it HAS to be an "on-purpose". Maybe it's relying to heavily on the lazy standard buck repaint, maybe it's slapping an arbitrary label on a box that makes it impossible to get. That stuff needs to be called out. Personally the only domestic company out there now that I can't make any kind of case against is Jada and I know that honeymoon will end eventually.
