I'm not interested in that Superman but I imagine hitting him with a can of flat matte sealer would go a long way to improve his look. That semi-glossy finish makes him look like a dollar store knock off.
At first I thought that the Reeve Supes was using the Earth 2 Superman body, but comparing the two I don't think he is. The boot tops are definitely lower on the Earth 2 figure and the Reeve figure doesn't look to be as muscular in the chest and thighs, plus the E-2 figure doesn't have that noticeable gap in his torso joint.
Ironically the Earth 2 figure also does not have the wrist cuffs that most other McFarlane Superman figures do, which would have been perfect reuse for the Reeve figure.
In fact that Earth 2 Supes is probably the best classic Superman figure that McFarlane has ever done, and they seem to have retired the mold after that one release.
So not only does he have those hideous wrist cuffs, but also his wrist joint is blue rather than flesh colored...
Oddly enough the wrist cuffs don't bother me, but that mid-torso joint is enough to kill any interest I would have had in the figure.
I used to be on the train of "these figures need to look perfect for the higher price!", but then I started collecting imports and Hot Toys and now these $30 toys look just fine for what they are. Perspective, I guess
I agree to a point. But stuff like this just pops up so often and the reason for it is because of the manufacturer not giving a shit. It doesn't cost extra to make it accurate.

That's a fair point.
That Reeves Superman!!!....I am impressed, looks real good, the likeness is on point. good job toddy...
reeve is here!!! collector's edition #25 up for preorder 10/17
Wow. What a letdown. I shouldn't be surprised that Todd half-@$$ed this, but damn. Looks extremely cheap.
Looks pretty good to me, specially for $25-30. When was the last time we had a mass market figure for Christopher Reeve Superman (if ever)?
Nothing remarkable on the accessory front. Nothing to warrant $30, IMO. Do I even see one of those fan-favorite trading card stands in that package? Maybe it's just hard to see. You know how every so often a figure comes with two alternate heads that look almost exactly the same? Seems we have that here.
It was always going to have something wrong with it. I'm amazed it's not more of a disaster to be honest. But I'm going to try to pick it up anyway. Hopefully there are more characters to come along. The Phantom Zone Villains would be enough for me if that's all we got.
1. Collector Edition Christopher Reeve Superman with cloth cape, smiling head, fists + flying hands
From the DC Wishlist thread. They nearly fulfilled it. I get the smiling head is hard. The Mezco smiley head looks wonky. The head(s) are good, not great. The raised S shield is weird.
@yojoebro82 definitely no worthless card stand. Matching set of hands. Agree not worth the 30, but they had to upcharge this instant sellout on Thurs.
Guesses for the Platinum? I say Clark Kent on The Question body.
Mcfarlane Christopher Reeve Superman figure looks like ass. I'm not even surprised...sigh. Mafex, Figuarts, c'mon, give us something better...
