I see they also have the Sportsmaster, Reverse Flash and Manhunter Platinums up. My question is if you win more than 1, do they charge shipping for each one?

@tmntfanatic I can't honestly say that I've ever won more than one at a time, but I believe they treat them as separate orders with separate shipping costs. I already picked up one Sportsmaster and Manhunter, but am hoping to score a 2nd Manhunter and Reverse Flash. I'm fine with the regular version of Cyborg Superman that I already have.

I entered the drawing for Sportsmaster. I only entered one other EQL drawing, for the Platinum Hawkman figure, and I won that one. Crossing fingers for SM. I have had zero luck finding him anywhere.

Weird thing is that my credit card authorization failed for some reason. Even though there is no reason for that to happen. So I had to use my wife's card. Anyone else ever run into this issue with EQL?

I have added soft goods wired capes to a number of figures because I DESPISE the action capes that generally come on figures in this line.

If you do photography like Ninjak does, if you have the character turn around with flowing capes, it ends up looking like the wind keeps suddenly changing direction.

I swear the only times you come across a platinum is when you’re not looking for them. Found platinum JLA John Stewart in the wild at target, decided to order one from game stop to get the normal version and of course got another platinum.

Wow, I ordered from Gamestop hoping for the Platinum and got a second regular. I opened him for the Plas part. Want to trade?

I’m definitely one that does the “class picture day” display so I guess that explains why I hate most McFarlane plastic capes. Rarely in a neutral pose and only sometimes made with pliable material.

I think I just have issues with most mass market capes. It’s hard to get quality soft goods material that doesn’t cost a fortune. Even higher end companies like Mafex can’t always get it right (first edition of blue Hush Batman being a glaring example). Plastic capes can too easily mess with balance or posing. I actually think McFarlane has done some of the best plastic capes of any line (3 Jokers Batman, Tactical Batfleck) but more often than not they are posed dynamically, so cloth is easier to deal with on the display.

I also did the EQL for Sportsmaster - pretty cool figure and definitely hoping to win it. What a weird concept for a villain, but happy to get anything Young Justice related.

This has been my experience too. Just got a platinum Aquaman from Amazon. I really only wanted the Plas parts anyway, but I talked myself into liking the hook hand comic run enough to keep the figure. But I have no desire for the black and neon green platinum version that I received and he's going for like $12 on eBay so... I guess he'll just go into the bin of misfit toys.

This is an excellent point and good for discussion.  I understand the people who prefer dynamic displays.   But that type of display, by necessity, reduces the number of figures that can be on display unless your display spaces is vast, bordering on limitless.    With finite shelf space and thousands of figures I love I don't really have the space to do a bunch of dynamic displays without putting a ton of other figures in boxes.   And I don't have the time to be swapping out displays with any regular cadence.   So the more static museum displays end up being much more practical for me while still letting me visually connect with most of the figures I love.

When I started collecting, I had everyone out - it was wall to wall figures, and though I definitely did not have unlimited space I made the most of what I had to work with. After a while, though, it got to where I just couldn't see the guys in the back very well and I started to realize that (speaking only for myself) I was spending $20 on the low end and $100+ on the high end and I couldn't see everyone all of the time. So eventually I had to make the decision to cut down on quantity and focus on quality. I sold off a bunch, boxed up the rest I couldn't sell right away, and hunkered down on what I really wanted to display. I had 20 Superman's, but did I really need to display all of them? I picked out my most favorite with each uniform (traditional, New 52, Electric, etc) and put away the rest. Same with every other character.

One of the things I discovered right away was that I had been purchasing figures to complete teams, but I didn't even really like some of the characters. I don't give two shits about Duke Thomas as a character, but there was his action figure. Did I need Lex Luthor in Superman armor? Did I really need an Aqualad or a Beast Boy? The answer to all of these was "no." I bought them to help complete teams, but in the end I discovered that I only wanted characters I cared about, teams be damned. That opened me up to being able to have a shelf dedicated to just a Doomsday vs Justice League display, or a Batman vs Bane setup. Stuff like this enabled me to bring in props like a custom Giant Penny for the background, or rubble for the Doomsday fight. Stuff like that. The only sucky part is when you have to tear it all down for remodeling and you were a fool who didn't take pictures first to recreate what you had lol

Obviously this type of collecting is sacrilege to some, it used to be to me too, but it's what works best for me now. It's saved my mental health from the constant searching and hunting for things I don't like that much just so that I can say I have it all. Saves me lots of cash, too, while everyone is out looking for Sportsmaster or multiple Manhunters, I'm over here like "I don't like either of those guys, my wallet is safe today!" lol

I use my figures to make full on comic books, and I find the cloth capes to be a pain. If they don't have wires then they just hang there in every photo and don't do anything. And if they are wired, I can never seem to get them in a pose that doesn't look a little janky. Plus it sucks to always have to be fiddling with the cape to make it look halfway decent. Maybe it's just me, but that's been my experience.

At least with the plastic capes they look good most of the time without having to do anything to them. I actually like them a little windswept because it adds some motion to a stagnate photo. In fact, I think my favorite cape of any McFarlane figure is the Hush Batman cape. It has a lot of movement to it, and you can put it completely behind him, or have it wrap around the front of his left leg a little. Plus it's pretty soft and flexible.

When I preferred plastic capes, I thought this way for a while too. The problem I kept running into was I'd find a Superman and a Batman I really liked and often their capes would be windswept in the opposite direction, so unless the pics were extremely close up it looked funny (unless you stood one of them with their back to the camera). I find the cloth capes to be much more workable, but I do agree that if the cape/wire is poor then it can 100% look janky. The cape has to be the right material, and you have to have a good solid wire. On many of my figures with plastic capes, I've replaced them with custom wired ones. JoAnns Fabrics has a ton of good material, whether you want a traditional Superman cloth or a leathery-looking move quality Batman cape. I suck at sewing so I have to get the missus to help me most of the time, but they usually come out looking pretty spectacular. My default Superman right now is the Hush body, AC1000 Head, and a custom wired cape (and maybe hands from another figure...I don't recall).

@therealsmallville While I understand the sentiment -  I can't connect with it personally.   I absolutely love the breadth of the fictional universes I embrace, and while every character in them isn't my favorite character - I do get joy from seeing them on my shelf.   The idea that I have Timber Wolf and Killer Moth and Giganta and RobotMan in my DCUC display makes me very happy.    Seeing Nepthu  and Lodar and Karatti on my MOTUC shelf brings me joy.

But then again I was a kid who could spend hours reading volumes of the encyclopedia and re-read my issues of Marvel Universe and Who's Who countless times.    So the breadth of the display is super important to me, even if I don't care about every character as much as the next.     It's why I get annoyed when Marvel Legends releases a wave of just another Iron Man, another Captain America, another Spider-Man and another Wolverine.   I have all those dudes in almost every variation you can offer so those interest me far less.

It's why 75% of McFarlane Toys output bores me to tears because it's the same dudes over and over and over and over again.

Can anyone explain to me why the Electric Superman figures are so much money while the Batman and Aquaman are getting clearanced? I was told my whole life that everyone hated that look whenever I mentioned wanting a Superman Blue figure. I still haven’t seen that figure in stores once.

Everyone bought all the blue Supermans to try to get the red Platinums. Drove the retail price up due to resellers. Some kept them to make duplicate Plastic Mans for that essential torso baf part. I've also never seen that blue Superman at Target.
