A classic Wonder Woman and it gets the $30 price tag. Guess I shouldn't be surprised but whatever, if it's comic accurate and looks good then I'll deal with it.

Captain Carrot? I mean, I might buy two just out of principle.

Recently got rid of Lobo (Gold Label KISS Concert variant) but would be happy to grab another if the face/head sculpt was improved. Just didn't feel like spending the extra dollars on a custom head.

I'm under the impression that these Collectors Edition $29.99 figures are going to be the primary offering of the line in 2024 and beyond. I don't know whether that has been explicitly stated or not, but I believe that to be the case. I don't like it, but it's not shocking to me either.

Well, so far, I've ordered and returned 7 Collector's Edition Superman figures from two retailers (trying to space it out between retailers so as not to get blacklisted from returning stuff) and zero Platinum chases.

Either it's pretty damned rare or other people did the same thing before I did.

I assumed with these figures being $10 more and every one having a chase that they'd be around 1:3. It's especially not fun if they're rare.

I honestly don't know, but I'm under the impression that they're far rarer than 1:3. McFarlane had to use a third party in order to fairly distribute their Platinums, so I'm under the impression that they're extremely limited - probably like only a few thousand copies. They probably vary by release, but it would be a good question for McF customer service. I know that I've entered several of the drawings with that 3rd party (EQL?) and only "won" one right to purchase (Dread Lantern). I personally have never seen a platinum chase in the wild outside of the all gray artists proofs that they did early on in the line and I'm at retail multiple times per week.

Like I say, since there's essentially no apparent extra value in the $30 Collector's Edition figures, my (apparently false) assumption was that the $10 went into more common chases. Instead it's apparently not giving the customer ANYTHING but a trading card holder for cards I suspect most people throw out anyway.

I tend to agree with your assertion. I don't see the value in these either. I do believe that McFarlane intends to begin adding more accessories like alternative heads and/or extra hands going forward (due to fan demand) and this is the avenue that helps them justify price increases that we all knew were coming eventually anyway. We knew that $19.99 price point was just to get us hooked, right?!? He stuck to it far longer than I honestly expected. So far the only 2 Collectors Edition figures that I've purchased are Abyss and Alan Scott - but there will be more, of course.

$30 is fine if it goes to new sculpt and accessories for the figure I'm buying.

$30 is not fine when you upcharge a re-used Superman to pay for a newly sculpted Page Punchers Robin. Don't make it so obvious that you're using extra dollars from re-use to subsidize other toys that often have better paint and more new sculpt.

Probably an emotional take, but it feels like all of the figures my 7 year old nephew would buy in Walmart get released at $20-$25, but if they can sell it online to the nerds waiting for that classic Wonder Woman, here's your $30 price tag. I'd rather they all be $22.99 or $24.99 than having this level of inconsistency.

I at least hope the Collector's Edition Wonder Woman is Golden Age and not the 2000s one we saw renders of.

The 2000s one was SUPPOSEDLY for a BAF wave. (Or NFT.) Not Collector's Edition.

Confusingly, they had art of a Golden Age WW next to renders of the 2000s one in some slides. Some retailers overseas seem to think the CE is 1940s style.

I actually DO want both. I'm building a JSA now that mixes comics with Injustice Dr. Fate and Black Adam Megafig Atom Smasher and I actually do want a Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman for my JSA. I'm dreading the CE Hawkman chase possibly being classic deco. Although it would actually make more sense as the all-black pre-Zero Hour Hawkman since his costume was NEARLY identical to the ZH version, just in different colors with metal wings and a more pronounced chest emblem. Normally I'd say that's too obscure but it was on giant DC posters at every comic shop in the 90s and it'd be cool to see a Hawkman with a full bodysuit represented -- and less annoying as a chase.

It's wild that ZH Hawkman's costume change boiled down to removing the shirt, logo change, feather wings, and color swaps from orange to gold for the most part. Same wrist guard, belt, trousers, and boots.

But my hunch is that McFarlane's ZH Hawkman chase is going to be green and red and yellow and DAMMIT my JSA needs that one. I may pay scalper prices on that and tap out on buying more JSA unless they hit clearance.

I've mostly bought McF at full price as someone trying to support the line even knowing most of it hits deep clearance.

But if we're shifting to a $30 baseline, I'm only buying discounted stuff after Supergirl, Steel, Hawkman, and WW. I might tag back in at full price for 90s Wally and Aquaman and Silver Age Hal and WW. That essentially completes my main teams. But I'm just not going to be able to give this line broad support at $30 alongside other stuff I enjoy more.

I'll tolerate $30 if it means more character depictions that make me say "WOW, I have to get that!"  Blue and grey Hush Batman was one, the Comedian/Killing Joke Joker was another.  If they come with extra hands or accessories that really add to the figure or can be useful in other cases, that's helpful too.  DK Two-Face should have come with a weapon, but that's WB's doing.  But alternate heads / hands more / more diverse weapons can make up for that.  I wouldn't mind generic but useful items like a timed-dynamite prop (perhaps not for the film version but definitely for other versions) that can be used by multiple characters, similar to DK Joker's stack of money being a decent prop for just about any other villain figure.  Penguin should definitely come with multiple umbrellas, hands, hats and maybe a killer penguin prop.  Poison Ivy, various vines, perhaps a potted venus fly trap etc.

As it stands though, minimum effort Sinestro is not going to attract / keep me with the line if that's the norm going forward.  He should at least have multiple hands and maybe an angry expression.  I'm not even sure what exactly the construct he comes with is supposed to be.

When I read someone mentioning a Red & Blue figure each, I assumed it was separated/electricity-based color Superman, I never thought it was going to be some holiday Batman like the Black Series does with their variants.

Basically, I want value for my dollar.  I'll pay $30, $35 if I feel I'm getting something for it.  NECA is usually pretty good at this.

At $20, even with the bare minimum of accessories, I was typically giving Todd praise because you were getting 7" of action figure typically with an all new sculpt.  But creeping more and more toward $30, you have to do something besides giving us a stand for the baseball card and giving the subline a new name.  There's a reason I'm almost completely checked out of Hasbro ML, the same will hold true for Todd.

30 bucks goes into Marvel Select territory for me and anything Todd did so far with the CE doesn't compare with what DST does. Just look at any of his figures vs. the likes of Mr. Fantastic or Apocalypse. The paints and accessories just aren't there for McFarlane (even if we just use the 100% newly sculpted Batman baddie as our example).

Things start getting expensive when you variants for different heads too. Like that Bat-Family 5-Pack.  😀

Personally, one of the appealing things about McFarlane's DC figures is how they've remained relatively inexpensive compared to other comparable figure lines. If the base price suddenly jumps up from $20 to $30 then they lose a lot of their appeal. They'll be more expensive than basic Marvel Legends, (which are too expensive IMO). I've passed on tons of Legends figures lately that I would have bought a couple of years ago before the price hike. If McFarlane follows suit, I'll be passing on a lot more DC Multiverse figures as well.

The Jason Momoa head on this is disappointing. Would also would have liked to have seen the suit with more of a metallic finish.
