Only really interested in Sinestro and Wonder Woman. I don't think Hawkman looks bad, it's just never been a character I was all that fond of. It's a cool look character, but none of his story ever resonated with me. I've often thought he looks like he'd make a better He-Man character overall. I think the older Sinestro figure's head was better than this one though. Plus I feel like he should be more lanky.
We're back! . Last time I was here I swore Todd off because of the Batman/Spawn 2 pack and actually did purge a lot of stuff. But not all of it. Then a couple days ago there's an expensive "King Spawn" leak along with Deadly Duo Joker. New Kickstarter is impressive and shit, Captain Carrot....So he might redeem himself.
I would love for the next Spawn release(s) to be amazing along with DC, but we'll see. The Collector Edition line is......NOT good. The slide show looked better. Certainly not $30 worth. atm only Page Punchers is attractive to me unless Deadly Duo gets a few more figures. And Knight Terrors. Riccardo Federici on Detective Comics was awesome and really liked all the titles, Superman especially. There's cool figures to be made and that's the stuff he does well.
Anyway good to "see" you folks again.
Just hoping that Wonder Woman isn't a Gold Label Walmart exclusive.
I hadn't touched any of Todd's stuff since back when the Three Jokers wave came out, but I decided to pick up the Knightfall Batman. This figure feels like a pretty substantial step up compared to a lot of Todd figures. The sculpt is great and most of the articulation both functions well and is well integrated into the sculpt. I just wish he could crunch more at the mid torso, look down further, and that the elbow joint looked cleaner when bent. Even with those nitpicks it's still the best domestic retail Batman we've gotten from any company
Can somebody elaborate on these mentions of Captain Carrot? I mean, really? Honestly? It's happening?
The classic Wonder Woman looks great, but the inclusion of the NFT is cringey. Feels like the sort of gimmick a toy line would do if it was failing to sell. That said, it's nice to see an increase in the number of female figures being made. Hopefully this is a trend that continues. That said, I'd still love to see Todd walk back and apologize for the disgusting "joke" he made last year.
@wil Unfortunately, Todd will probably never stop being a super-cringe business bro. He’s definitely a six year old afraid of cooties when it comes to female figures, and his Muskian obsession with NFTs is beyond gross.
Really hoping that “trend” burns out so he can move on to whatever the next goofy finance-dude pyramid scheme is next. I’m going to feel pretty filthy buying that Wonder Woman with the NFT attached.
That said: the actual figures are just getting awesome. I pumped up the McF collection significantly during the Blip and Riddler, Catman, Spawn/Batman etc are some of the best of the line so far. Looking forward to more, and hoping Todd levels up in the maturity department and moves beyond the childishness.
Well I got the Knightfall Batman and I used it to make an entire action figure comic book, so I took a ton of photos and really put it through its paces and got very familiar with the articulation and the aesthetics of the figure in doing so.
I must say it is a great figure, pretty much a perfect representation of a of a classic 70’s/80’s/90’s version of Batman. Which is what I grew up with. So I definitely like it a lot. That said, I don’t know if it’s my absolute favorite McFarlane Batman though. In the respect that if I could only keep one Batman figure, I don’t know if this figure would be it. To be honest I would probably have a tougher time giving up my 3-Jokers or Rebirth Batman figures before this one. Or even the blue and grey Hush Batman.
I guess in the past few years I’ve started liking a more practical looking version of the Dark Knight. One that actually looks more like a “Dark Knight”. With darker colors and a padded costume with armored gloves and boots, etc. The light grey spandex and bright blue and yellow accents just don’t seem like the logical choice to go sneaking around the city at night trying to stay hidden in the shadows. I’ve actually always wondered what they were thinking when they originally chose that color scheme for a guy called Batman.
I know it wouldn’t be “comic accurate” but I kind of wish McFarlane would have at least added some texture to the costume, like they’ve done on almost all of the other figures. At the very least they could have made the grey a little darker. As it is the figure comes across as a little too “Super Friends”. If you know what I mean.
Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s an absolutely great figure. I just thought I’d love it more based on the initial photos they posted. I guess it’s just a little too borderline bright and cheery and toy-ish looking to be my default grim and brooding Dark Knight.
Yeah, me as well, I really don't understand why this Knightfall Batman is called Knightfall Batman when the colors are more Super Powers or even Super Friends. Plus in the Knightfall series, Batman was bigger than this figure depicts. I still grabbed one for some reason I'm still trying to figure out.
@bananaman I agree, I have the blue and grey variant Bats from wave 1, but it just pales in comparison to this one. I've had a hell of a fun time posing this Batman, he fits so well with both the classic designs we've been blessed with lately and the more modern looks that the line is full of. Just the best Batman yet.
Now my only problem is: do I put him in my Justice League display or my Gotham City display? I have the 3 Jokers Batman that I customized with black trunks and the aforementioned wave 1 blue and gray variant, so I'm trying to figure out who should go where. That new Black Lightning coming up is making me hopeful for a future Outsiders display too. Classic Katana, Halo, Looker and Geo-Force would be so frickin' cool!
