I went to the Target near work today and found the regular & platinum editions of Captain Boomerang, Penguin & Starfire in the collector's section. I went to the toy aisle & there was a platinum edition of the Dark Knight Rises Catwoman. I live near Pittsburgh and the figures usually show up a week or 2 after people on the forums find them in their area.
I don’t know how y’all do this hobby in general without support from a significant other. My wife is my biggest collecting cheerleader and helper.
Luckily it’s the same for me. My wife actually got aggravated tonight because I DIDN’T buy a red AzBat at Target (I keep hoping to find a blue one)
Batman Forever BAF bat preorders Friday June 7th
I’ve now got two McF store orders that have technically shipped but have not moved; the Platinum EQL wave and then today the Freeze/Ambush Bug/Booster wave. I honestly wish they would wait to tell me they’ve shipped until they are actually moving. That EQL wave has been at “label created” since, like, Thursday night.
This has been very common for me with McF Store also. I had 2 different in stock orders that I did the first week of December that didn't actually leave their distribution center until February. I have yet to ever receive a single shipment from McF in less than 2 weeks from the day they send the "your status has changed" email... and I only live a few states away. I basically only order their store exclusives and bundle deals from them now. Between the cost of their shipping, the timeliness of their shipping and charging for pre-orders upfront, it's just not worth it usually.

Still looking forward to ordering this wave, but there's one big issue for me: The cowl on the sonar suit is not supposed to be black, it's gunmetal like the rest of the suit. Why they made this purposeful, inaccurate decision when they got it right on the multipack release is one of the many reasons for being frustrated with Todd. I painted a Kenner Batman Forever figure gunmetal grey and it turned out pretty good. Maybe I'll give this figure the same treatment.
Also, not really a complaint, but it's weird that they chose to go with all soft goods capes for the multi pack, then plastic for the Batman and Robin wave, now soft goods again for Batman Forever.
Still, this wave is a preorder for me because no other toy company is touching these Schumacker films and Todd with his Batman fetish is our only hope for them.
My wife gets text messages from the mail when packages are coming. She acts annoyed and asks "what did you get now?" Half the time I'm not even sure lol. Thank god for Pile of Loot.
Lucked onto a Target employee with a fresh case on his cart. It had one regular and one platinum each of Starfire/Penguin/Boomer.
On the subject of wives:
Overall mine is supportive. Less so when I bring home a figure she knows I have multiple versions of ("You don't already have a Riddler?"). She is not impressed by multiple versions of the same thing, which, more and more often is what adult figure collecting is turning into, especially superhero figures.
She doesn't tend to keep track of packages that show up at the door. However, if she sees a bill, things can get dicey.
She does like and encourage when I have my eye on something unique. I recently bought a vintage Kenner Ghostbusters firehouse and she was onboard with that and replied with, "Oh, we need that, good buy". Basically if it's not another homogeneous 6" scale superhero figure, I'll get more support.
Saw the regular Starfire and Boomer yesterday at Target. No Penguin, but that's okay. I'm still a little torn on the Penguin and Starfire figures, but I have both pre-ordered through Amazon. I guess I'll let them ship and see which versions I get, and if I want to keep them. A classic Penguin is nice; he's far from my favorite Bat rogue, but he's still a crucial part of the display.
I think the Forever figs look pretty good. I dig the coin effect on Two-Face. I guess they look so good as figures because those Schumacher movies were literally designed to be toyetic and sell toys. I can see a lot of people selling off the Giant Bat BAF, but I think it's a pretty cool idea. It'll make a cool centerpiece for the display, if nothing else. I'm looking forward to these, and really hope he can work out a miracle for the Burton movies.
those forever figures look great, i do agree about batman i'm not loving the black on the cowl, arms and boots. they should have either left it like the 6-pack version or paint the whole figure black.
i like but also annoyed they gave batman and robin cloth capes and extra accessories yet they did not do this for the B&R wave, i mean we got some ice pieces but the extra hands and weapons would have been nice.
also agree would have liked bane instead of the bat creature, todd could have made this like a 90's movie collection wave or called it "the schumacher wave".
most like we'll see bane maybe as a 2-pack with a different ivy figure.
Got red Azrael from BBTS. This is an awesome figure! The proportions issues with this line aren’t as apparent with armored characters like this. This Azrael came out really nicely. Love it. I wish I could get the blue armor as well.
Feel fortunate to have the 6 pack version of Kilmer - I’ll definitely be ditching this new one, or trying to use the cowl/boots/gloves for a panther suit.
Ambush Bug arrived in my pile of loot today but I cancelled the order. It’s an OK figure, just not worth it to grab a side character. Maybe if he hits the sale bin one day.
Has there been any word on a New 52 Batman? I know a few months back Todd said he was interested/ thought it would be cool to make one. Any updates on that or on a Arkham Origins or telltale Batman?
Got the blue Azrael from Target a couple of days ago. Even sweeter is I had two $5 gift cards from Target for buying dog food there. I wasn’t planning on purchasing it but after seeing what a quality figure it is, well there you go.
The Azrael Batman is indeed a very solid release, red or blue. That's part of the frustration with this line. Every time you get a figure that is Az-Bat quality, there is at least one that has some real WTF design issues....preventable issues. It's a roll of the dice whether the figure you're looking forward to is one or the other. Then it's another roll of the dice whether Todd will make it available for everyone or just a lucky few.
I'm going to nit pic the Az-Bat armor though and this only comes from me currently reading Knightfall, otherwise I would not have remembered this stuff: Azrael Batman's first armor (the Walmart exclusive) had very big, bulbous shoulders in the comics. Todd's figure captured that pretty well, maybe they could have even been a bit bigger, but what he gave us there was fine. Az-Bat's later red/blue armor did not have those big, round shoulders, they were more of your standard armored plating, more form-fitting. His later armor also did not have the pouches wrapped around his left thigh. Todd left that on for easy reuse sake.
Those are nit-pick though, and like I say, both are sold releases. I hope Todd makes both of those figures available so that everyone that wants one can get one.
