Stolen from fb. That Brainiac is phenomenal.
I found Rival and black/grey Knightfall Batman at Target today. Got street dated to 4/28 for Rival at the register. It was an impulse purchase so no biggie. I explained to the Target person where I found him and that others were on the shelf. She clearly did not care and I fully expect they'll be back there when I go back for groceries later. It's so weird to get street dated when the manufacturer clearly doesn't care and the employees on the ground don't care.
I hope Batman (The Batman TV) is the 2004 "The Batman". Playing with the action figures and reading the comics based off that show was a big part of my childhood.
I'm of the opinion that if the product is on the pegs, let the customer buy the product. Imagine a (grand)parent wanting to buy their (grand)child a Batman figure only to be told by the cashier that they can't sell the figure because it has a street date.
Got Kilowog and Raven, have thoughts.
We didn't get the Beast Boy baf wave so I'm late to the party, Raven is the only one I ended up getting only because she's the easiest to come by on Aliexpress of all places. She's a great female figure but at the same time I don't understand and don't like her costume. At all. I'm confused by the blue legs, black upper suit with navy blue accents. Don't know if it looks the same in the comics or not, would love some help with finding reference pics because google images wasn't useful so far. I also changed her small hands to a different pair as well. Oh, the effects being interchangeable with her hands is dumb too.
Kilowog is impressive in the best of ways. A big brute with some great accessories (the hammer has a very intricate sculpt). But as much as I like the texturing on Todd's figures, it's overdone on this one. The placement seems random (like, I can't figure out how the costume should look if painted properly) and the scaling is off in the same way it is on Haslab Galactus - as if it was sculpted for a standard sized figure instead of an oversized one by accident. Plus, I'm not a fan of the super heavy drybrushing going on here. Also, the GL symbol is only painted on so I'm expecting some reuse of this mold down the line. As usual, though, the headsculpt is killer.
I'm super late to the party, but BBTS had the Arkham Asylum Killer Croc on sale for $25 yesterday, so I finally snagged him. I still have and still love all my old DCC Arkham figures, but some of them are definitely feeling the effects of time, Croc included. I don't think he's broken quite yet, but his joints feel very, very loose, and I'm afraid to pick him up too much, so it'll be nice to have another version. Would love an Arkham Knight Croc one day, but that thing would be a beast, literally and figuratively, so I can't imagine what it would cost (and probably not that great articulation).
Really hope that Todd doesn't forget the Arkham games as he moves forward, or takes the SS game backlash as a sign there's less a market for them. Despite Rocksteady's reputation taking a beating with SS, the Arkham games remain as cherished as ever (arguably even moreso now), and we're still in dire need of some redos- Zsasz, Mad Hatter, Ivy, Talia, etc.
Been randomly checking Best Buy and found an ‘open box’ Wonder Woman for less than $27 shipped. Bought it and expected the worst…ended up with a brand new figure. Box was covered in stickers and missing one piece of tape but I otherwise found no evidence it was actually opened.
Weird that I feel more relief than happiness but she really is a solid figure. Almost wish I had gotten another at that price to swap the rebirth skirt/boots. But it feels good to be a Plastic Man shipment away from an actual JLA.
Check your Walmarts. I got Owlman for $7 on clearance yesterday.
I stopped by a Target while near Pittsburgh and found these.
I got every single thing at Target in the past 2 days.
I wonder if that means the variants will be made in larger numbers, or that you were lucky.
I'm starting to think the Platinums might be retail only, I mean NO ONE has found a regular from the JLA (apart from the Bats).
If that's not the case, at very least yeah these Plats are being made in much higher quantities.
Found Wally at Walmart yesterday. Much easier to acquire than I expected.
