I'm loving those fireballs Starfire comes with.
Gotta give Todd credit, he plays the game really well. A totally separate character as a chase for Starfire, a color variant based on a wildly popular nostalgia figure for Penguin... those are right up there with classic Hawkman colors repaint as a chase. It's not the collector game I want to play, but his process must be working for him. (I don't gamble and I think I'm too old to go Target hopping anymore.)
I have 0% interest in the chase variants, so if I get one, I'm happy to trade for the normal version.

Noted. I really want Blackfire.

Does it “work” for him though? I mean sure he’s got some curated scarcity, but is that *really* driving sales and interest? Seems more like a detractor more than an attractant, at least based on the chatter I’ve seen. I don’t see anyone going “ooh this is so cool, thanks Todd!” The most positive comments I have seen are grudging acceptance and acknowledgment of the manipulative tactics he’s using.
boomerang without jacket if anyone is curious
ooooh white lantern boomerang
Starfire sold out at the usual suspects (BBTS, Amazon, MTS). I forgot these were going up today until just a few minutes ago.
@therealsmallville I bet a lot of that is people buying multiples to try to get Blackfire.

@aceofknaves I find it to be a massive detractor but the guy seems to be rolling in money. It puts me off completely, personally, I really don't like the mini-game of finding figures anymore. (I really just want to give a company my money and get the action figures I want, I'm not collecting Pokemon here.) He seems to be making great money. Although it'd be interesting to see if he'd be even richer without the gimmicks. (I personally would spend 10X the money on a DC line that released figures that made it easy to preorder, set it and forget it figures of classic characters with no gimmicks, but I can't tell if I'm just being grumpy or not.)

Totally agree. I haven't met anyone who enjoys the hunt with this line. Even before marriage, house and kids I couldn't be bothered with chase bullshit, but now I'm at a point where I'll drop lines like a hot pan if they annoy me or take more time than they should.
I've got the money to collect, but time is what I won't waste on these things. I'd rather have more time to customize than try to hunt down paint variations.
So... I want that Starfire, but missed my window at BBTS and Amazon apparently. Entertainment Earth wants to charge me $12.99 to ship so they can eat a dick and Game Stop wants to charge me $8 to ship and I decided that this Starfire figure isn't worth $40 to me. It would be nice to have, and I would begrudgingly pay the $30 asking price... but I can't got to over $40 to have it in hand.
If she comes back in stock in one of the places that I can ship it free or if I can find it in person at Game Stop or something then I'll pick it up... but I don't need it that bad.
I got my order for the bundle in at MTS for just under $80 shipped after the MTS10 code. The crappy part is that Todd charges upfront. I saw that even the cases of 6 for Starfire were sold out already. I definitely would like to get both versions of Starfire/Blackfire. I'd prefer the Platinum variant for Penguin but hate the Platinum variant of Captain Boomerang.
Ordered Starfire and Penguin from Amazon. Debating Boomer, but not one I really need right now; if these are anything like the prior Collector's Editions, I'm sure they'll hit a sale or clearance if I'm patient enough (though these characters seem to be in far more demand than the previous ones like Abyss). I'm in the boat a lot of us seem to be in- I prefer the standard versions far more than the chases, so keeping my fingers crossed for those.
