Earth 2 Superman would make a great FA Batman. Knightfall repaint should be in this wave. So 2 Three Jokers reuses there that should have been something else. The Hulk Superman figure is a joke.
For me I dislike the diaper enough for the point to be moot, but if they want to go in this direction then sculpt 2 new bodies from scratch, maybe Alan Scott was one, and go for it. But make one bigger for Superman or other characters. A Blue Beetle, Alan Scott, Three Jokers DCU is not appealing to me in the slightest.
Wait a minute. Is Target going to quit carrying McFarlane DC Multiverse or something? If you look at the clues it sure seems that way. First they never got Wonder Woman in stock (in store or online). They also never put the last couple of waves up for pre-order at all, and they apparently rejected the COIE Wave that was supposed to be a Target exclusive, and when you check their website they only have like one page of McFarlane DC stuff for sale now. They used to have a lot more than that. Plus they're trying to clear some stuff out as well.
It seems to me like they might be done with Multiverse, or at the very least they are cutting way back on it. I could be wrong, but it sure looks that way.
I wonder if with this particular wave, Plasticman should have been a separate figure with his limbs easy to pull apart, while all the pack ins for the other figures in the wave are shape shifted Plastcman parts. Like spring legs or enlarged fists. That way people can get the core Plas figure without having to buy the other unwanted figures.
Its not a new concept and toy companies are a business. BAF's have been around for along time. Thats why BAF's were invented, to get more $$$ for the toy companies.

Target and Walmart have both been signaling that they're going to be cutting back on selling collector level action figures for quite some time. They've gotten tired of having to clearance everything out. You see them having to unload unopened cases of figures to places like Ollie's, Ross, Kids Warehouse, Big Lots and bin stores for pennies on the dollar compared to what they originally paid the vendor.
Hasbro, Mattel and McFarlane all got this message from them loud and clear quite some time ago and have greatly reduced the quantity (print run of each figure) that they produce due to it, which isn't quick or easy to do when these things are planned out so far ahead in advance. Unfortunately for the toy companies if they're going to be selling smaller quantity of each print then they have to increase their prices in order to achieve the same margin on their product run. It's much more cost effective for them to make larger quantities than smaller quantities of a single product (one figure). This means that the toy company has to charge a higher price per figure than if they did for a larger print run. At some point that new price point becomes untenable for the consumer. For this reason you might begin to see companies give up popular licenses because it's just not profitable enough for them anymore as they see sales fall too far at the new necessary price point. For this reason, I won't be at all surprised if Hasbro just says no thanks when Marvel and Star Wars comes up for renewal again, for example.
The big box stores will be unlikely to stop selling completely, but will likely be much picker about what they order and how much. They'll probably always want blockbuster movie tie-in toys, for example (assuming there are any blockbuster movies going forward). This hobby will continue to move more and more online (just like pretty much everything else has!). Brick and mortar buildings and physical locations have just become a very inefficient way of selling for most types of businesses.
I still feel bad for Todd sometimes for if he would've been allowed to do this line in six inch scale to Marvel Legends he would've owned the action figure aisle.
JJ, feel bad for Todd if you want - but the choice to go to 7" was his because he didn't want to compete with the DC figures that came before. He WANTED everyone to have to start over at a new scale. He didn't want people to pass on his stuff because they already had figures in the same scale. I certainly get it from a business standpoint but as a collector I detest him and his company for it. Watch, if Hasbro loses the license for Legends (or gives it up, which is seeming increasingly likely) then it very likely will do the same thing for the same reason wherever it ends up. Hasbro tried to do it themselves (with the 3.75" figs), but it didn't work out for them.
Partly true, but there's also a ton of 1:10 collectors including his entire fanbase that had been screaming for a DC line for years. So for each 6" fan that curses Todd for making his line at the same scale as his other lines, there's a NECA/McFarlane/DST/DCC collector that was ready to start a whole new line of DC figures in their preferred scale. DC figures at 7" scale were 100% blue sky.
Huh, it's been a while since the last mention of "going 7" was a mistake" in this thread.
I’m just jealous that Marvel gets both scales. Marvel Legends got the core offerings out before the price hikes and Marvel Select has done a bunch of amazing figures at 7”. DC fans always get the short end of the stick, at least as it comes to mass market items.

I know! I thought we had finally moved past it, but here we are.
went by target this morning and they more dc figures on sale
batman page punchers are down to $14.99
B&R baf wave also $14.99
It's not even the lack of new parts, it's the constant reuse of "wrong" parts that turn off most people.
That’s it exactly. This line is just so hit or miss even for the stuff I am interested in, and most of the times the misses are just dumb design or parts use choices that seem flagrantly wrong like they’re intentionally screwing up.
I was so excited for this wave when it was on the leaked lists. Now I’d say only one of these is a sure purchase for me, and that’s because I’ve wanted a hook hand Aqua Man since Mattel revealed the subscription DCUC figure I was unable to get. So I’ll buy him despite the lazy painted scales, but I will complain about it.
Superman Blue is the one I’m least disappointed in, but the page puncher arms have ugly elbow joints. Still, I have a soft spot for my electric Superman.
John Stewart is weird because this isn’t the costume he had when he was part of the JLA comic in the 2000s, and that was after the era these other figures are based on. So again I’m faced with the timeless McF dilemma- buy a figure I dont really want because I like the character, or wait and hope that McF eventually releases a figure of one of the most popular DC characters that looks like the comics. I already fell for this crap twice with Kyle Rayner, and that was using this same body.
Batman figure is just the epitome of lazy. Bad body choice, no new head, no wire cape- this figure adds nothing to the collection. Darkest navy (almost black) cape and cowl, dark grey body, yellow oval, medium height ears, pointy shoulders. It’s not that hard.
In related news- I still can’t find Wonder Woman, and the Wally West they revealed is also a lazy repaint that disappoints all around.
How hard is it to make a consistently styled version of the big 7? How hard is it to make sure the hands aren’t huge or tiny? How hard is it to make sure the trading card art at least vaguely resembles the style of the figure you release?
Well, at least it's only a 3 figure buy to get a Plastic Man.
@theghost That is an excellent point and something that somehow had been completely lost on me until you posted it. I'll definitely be skipping old Hook Hand now. A $75 Plastic Man is better than a $100 Plastic Man!
Aquaman would've looked perfectly fine if they didn't paint those silly scales on there. Not as good as with newly sculpted legs but still much better than now. That being said, it's a strong figure, I like the new upper half of it. Also funny that Superman Blue has exactly the same painted on costume but sculpted on mask as the DCUC one way back when.
I really love that Plastic Man wave. That will be the first BAF I have ever completed w/ McFarlane. I was reading a lot more DC than Marvel in the 90's. On a different note I picked up Batfleck over this past weekend. He is the most poseable Batman McFarlane has made to date. The crunch forward is great compared to most DC Multiverse. Weirdly I am actually glad he is not 100% accurate (not really bulky enough, head should be lower on neck, gold elements missing from gauntlets and boots) as I love the BvS cowl and costume so to me he can be a new 52 Batman. I have been posing him w/ 3 Jokers Joker, Mr. Freeze and today Talon from the Court of Owls. He looks great with them. I love the cloth cape too.
Amazon finally shipped me my BvS Batfleck. I dig it well enough. It looks like a younger, slightly slimmer version of Batfleck, but I don't mind it too much. If I could afford it, I'd slap on one of those awesome custom heads I've seen around, but alas. There's some pretty nice detailing on the suit- I like all the wrinkles and such, and I feel like this is the first BvS Bats figure we've gotten (small scale, at least) that gets his suit color right. He's a welcome addition to the Bat Display. I'm still holding out hope for an Armored Batman and Knightmare Batman, especially the latter. I still have the old DC Films Armored Batman I don't mind fudging into the collection if need be, but I've always wanted a proper Knightmare Batman figure (the old DC Multiverse one leaves a lot to be desired, but was nice for what it was).
