Looks real to me. He does have some edits though.

this was posted on facebook from a different user so these are definitely legit platinums

It’s official those are the real platinums, asoka the geek posted a reel with his copies.

Ooooh I’m gonna need both of those Platinums. AzBats is what I expected, but FA Bats is unexpected and very cool. Looks like a two-tone cape in there, blue lining. Very nice. I’m not generally one for “cel shading”, but the paint really replicates the antique art and I dig it.

So the AzBat fans really want(this platinum version and/or the Walmart exclusive) are going to be really hard and expensive to get.

Yeah . . . I’m not sure I would have made the red AzBats the regular and the blue the Platinum. I *probably* technically want the red one more, maaaaaaaybe?, but the blue is the more iconic-looking for casual buyers looking for Batman. Then again, I don’t know that Todd worries much about any Batman’s *not* selling.

Earth-2 Superman actually wasn’t bumped from this wave: just confusingly labeled. Val-Zod *is* the Earth-2 Superman of this particular wave, and is labeled as such in the official McFarlane reveal yesterday. But I’m pretty sure I’ve seen leaked lists where this figure was labeled “Val-Zod” and some where he was labeled “Earth-2 Superman” and, I *think*, even instances where both Val-Zod AND Earth-2 Superman were on this list: but it was always, as least as far as I can remember, listed with two different Supermans (Supermen??) and then “Ghost of Zod” and Brainiac. But it is SUPER confusing, especially since this wave has been “hanging out” on rumor lists since the middle of last year, and then the Crisis wave suddenly came into the mix with its own, distinct Earth-2 Superman.

That makes sense now, thanks for info.  I dig it a lot even though I pretty much broke up with McFarlane.  I can never fully escape though, these are too much fun.  We saw leaks last May.....took a long time to come, but worth it for me.

and yeah Mystic Man I hear you, all classics are reused bodies.  Seeing Manhunters and Darkseid on leaked lists should excite me more, but it's really a matter of seeing them before getting excited after some of Todd's decisions.  Like....First Appearance Batman would be awesome on the COIE Superman body, but they just keep using that Three Jokers figure.

This guy and his decisions. You know I guess McFarlane really doesn't care about more money and just trolling DC fans. The blue version of Azreal should have been main line. The red version should have been the chase.

Man, people are PISSED about blue AzBats being a chase. And rightfully so.

I get that the first appearance Batman chase is supposed to be the "cover" version, but if they would have just released the purple-gloved version with the blue-inner cape from the chase, I'd be happy and I'd preorder it asap.

Probably sacrilege, but I’m considering swapping around parts between both figures to get the purple-gloved, non-shaded version with the Platinum cape. It reminds me of that glorious “Famous Covers”-style 90s Mego-ish figure that came with the coffee table book. I’ve still got that around somewhere and it is still one of my favorite Batman figures of all time.

@aceofknaves admittedly I wrote up an angry rant saying Todd did that on purpose to try to sell two figures, but I also admit there are likely people out there who want one or the other of the versions.  Hearing you reply to my comment so quickly reaffirms my opinion though that they should have just done that lmao.  At least they're $23 each or whatever and not $40 if you want to do the combining process.  I could deal with the blue accents on the head and boots personally so if I find the chase, I will just paint the gloves.

I miss the days when both colors would just be regular release figures and the only "chase" part was looking through the pegs to see if they had the color you wanted. "Oh, maaaaan! Red again! Maybe the other store will have the blue one."

I freely admit those days may have been Kenner Dark Knight Collection in the 90's, but still 🤣  I wish they would stop with the Chase/Platinum stuff. Exclusives I understand, and I get behind them if it leads to cash flow that makes newer cool stuff for us; but Chase's aren't making Todd any more money. It makes guys on ebay more money, but Todd isn't seeing that cash. I can't imagine retailers are thrilled when they have to handle constant returns from the guys ordering cases to get the variant and then returning the normies. Todd's a weird guy.

Yeah, Todd's better of creating a $39.99 price point "Platinum" figure that's produced in decent quantities (as to not sell out immediately) that's only sold on his site vs. the current chase approach. Really hoping the backlash quells it a bit. Now that he's starting to do platinums for like half the line -- and the platinums are of main looks like with this blue Azbats or Super Powers Wonder Woman and not weird variants -- it's starting to get really annoying.

Even back in the 90s, I *never* enjoyed “hunting for chases”. It’s stressful, it sucks, and I despise competition, especially in a hobby. I don’t want to be “the early bird” or “lucky” or “have the inside track”, I just want to buy the fucking toy and play with it. And honestly? I wouldn’t mind so much if it was just as simple as paying $40 for the “privilege” of grabbing a Platinum AS LONG AS IT WAS EASY AND READILY AVAILABLE TO DO SO. What I *don’t* want to do is to have to drop like $100 on eBay for desirable Platinums that I’ll be afraid to even play with because they are so damn expensive and “rare”. And especially when some Platinums are literally the more desired version when compared to the regular, like this AzBats or the Super Powers Mr Freeze or classic Hawkman or (depending on your taste) Super Powers Wonder Woman or classic Captain Carrot. I could go on. Aaaaaaand now we have that McF exclusive Crisis wave, where even the regulars are hard to get and getting “stuck” with a Platinum might be a lose-lose situation: sure, you can “always sell it or trade it” but that’s exactly the situation I hate and want to avoid: I have zero interest in trading and selling collectibles: I just want to own and play with them. Ultimately, at this point I just want to be able to order toys and have them shipped to me, and that’s all.
