Could not disagree more about the four horsemen. Loved their work on Dcuc and motuc. Their mythic legion line proves that if mattel would let them do what they really wanted to do, new dc figures could be really bad ass.
@ensign I'd have to agree. Four Horsemen are some of the best in the biz, especially when they're not working for someone else and held to certain obligations. I only have a handful of Mythic Legions, Seventh Kingdom, Gothitropiois, and Figura Obscura, but they're all fantastic, and I don't think I've seen a single 4H original piece that I haven't been impressed by it some way. They always manage to show how detailed and creative they can be when they're not tied to more simplistic, pre-existing designs, or have to keep things within certain budgetary restrictions. Of all the complaints I've had for various toylines, the sculpting is often far down the list, if on it at all,and it's often because of 4H's involvement.
I also loved what the Four Horsemen did on DCUC and MOTUC. I've never bought a single other thing that they've done because I don't buy any licenses that I don't care about, but both of those lines were fantastic.
The Four horseman made DCUC. Theirs sculpts were and remain in the own lines fantastic. Very few horseman misses across 20 waves. The girls and a weird ass Superboy needing the most improvement.
I am not an articulation junkie by any means. I enjoy good action figure pose ability- but display vanilla and do not enjoy endless cuts in the sculpt. So- best of both worlds will do just fine for me and honestly ready for a change, McF did some good things but on my shelf DCUC still reigns supreme.
Oh I completely agree I have oh, I don't know around 20 Four Horseman sculpts. My favorite is Frankenstein then the Egyptian gods, third I would have to say is the latest snake army builder. I just don't want them if Mattel hired them again to subcontract the sculpting duties to amateurs as they did before and we get subpar DC figures.
On the topic of the 4HM. they are top of the line, i like them and their figures are superb BUT there creativity needs work, some of their figure designs are bad. they need better 'creative' figure designers.
I’m ready for the change. Things I would like to see:
Better butterfly joints.
McFarlane style hips that actually work. This is better to me than seeing a cut joint at the upper thigh. This McFarlane hip joint is a step in the right direction but that joint doesn’t work on any of my Mac figures. I’ve seen this hip artic on a bootleg anime figure bu it actually works really well.
Ball upper torso
Cogjit ankles. Mattel got cheap and actually took this away in DCUC.
Ball neck at the base of the head and neck that actually works looking down and up.
I'd really rather not have 4HM back, because I'd like whatever line they develop feel new, but it's not a dealbreaker or anything for me. Their work is good.
Four Horsemen returning wouldn't be terrible, but there are so many sculptors out there that are passionate about DC. I'd love to see them work on something in an official capacity that aren't just statues, Mondo figures, and other higher end lines. Hiring sculptors who are passionate, and tailoring what work they do to their tastes and style, has resulted in mostly good sculpts from the Hasbro 1/12 lines.
The Four Horsemen aren't coming back. They are busy enough doung their own thing and the people at Mattel they had relationships with have mostly moved on. Whatever Mattel dowes with DC it will have a new design team.
This isn't true. MAFEX figure are no less than $60 in Japan.
Mafex 185, their Spider-Man, has a retail price of around 8500 JPY, which works around £45, Hasbro are asking £49.99 for the Maximum Spiderman.
The idea behind it could be great, but the price point tells you that they're seeking to minimise risks (and the lack of sculpted details tells you they'll reuse). They could have done different things with the hip articulation and I'd have preferred more paint rather so many accessories. I'm someone who has purchased Super7 Ultimates, but wasn't convinced it was worth it(especially as I have Mafex and Mezcos Spidey's).
Anyway, all good guys, each to their own, I did preface my original album comment by saying I think I may have a problem....!
(I do like the Four Horsemen, but their work on other lines - the DC aesthetic and articulation choices just didn't work for me, and I really did want to like them. It may have not helped that DCUC had sporadic availability in the UK).
Re. Four Horseman - lovely paint apps and some nice sculpts but damn, when are they gonna get with the times and offer double jointed limbs? Feels like everything I see from them is dated af, articulation wise.

Untrue, I got a Spidey for $48. Sounds like you need to learn to shop around better.
