I did end up getting an order in at Hobby-Genki for Catwoman a few days ago, and just got a processing email. Even with international shipping it was like $30 cheaper than ordering through BBTS, so I'm happy I was able to make the switch.

Anybody know why shipping prices to the US from Japan have tripled over the past 6 months or so? I remember one figure being about 2000 to 3000 Japanese yen, but now it's 6000 to 7000 from most retailers.
Shipped DHL from hlj on Tuesday for 4,410 jpy. A 1/12 figure by Snail Shell. This one had a heavy base and bigger box than usual. I added the same figure to hlj's cart. DHL is the cheapest option. EMS is 5,520 and FedEx 4,460.

Strange. amiami only charged me 3026 JPY to ship him with DHL. I think HLJ is fudging the numbers a bit.
AmiAmi just quoted me 4180 yen to ship Batman via EMS.
I can't keep track of the costs of these international shipping services. Hobby Search shows them to you as you check out, but you have to wait a day or so for AmiAmi to tell you one by one how much each one costs. Getting tired of that.
And now I get an error every time I try to submit payment at AmiAmi. Is it them? Is it my bank refusing a charge to them yet again? I don't think it's my bank because they usually notify me, but this time they're not. And I tried two credit cards and it didn't work with either of them.
Tired of problems EVERY time I try placing orders there. They're a last resort from now on.

I guess they charge you more or less depending upon what your chosen method of payment costs them? We're not used to that in the US because there's a federal law that prevents retailers from passing on credit processing costs to customers--aside from local, state, and federal government agencies who REGULARLY charge us all extra when we pay with a credit card or online 🙄 --but I assume there's nothing stopping a Japanese retailer from passing on payment costs to foreign customers.

My friend wanted to buy a gift from amiami for another friend last month, and the same thing happened to him. I ended up buying the gift, and he paid me back. But once he switched to PayPal, it worked fine. Not sure exactly what's going on, but my card has worked fine. Could be an issue with the card issuer/bank.
Maybe related, probably not, but I've also had issues lately where DHL has required a signature for delivery when that was never a problem before. I could always just forgo the signature. But it's also not every time, either. Not sure what's up with that.
I didn't notice until looking at Isaac Wong's photos of The Batman that he has a pleather cape. Do any other Mafex figures have a pleather cape? Curious how it will turn out. Looks great in Isaac's photos.

Yup.
amiami hasn't said anything specifically to me, but I expect a delay. Well, I'm gonna be out of town soon anyway, so this actually works out for me. I wouldn't have been around to sign for the DHL package and if not needed, I didn't want it just left on the porch.
Just gotta laugh at this, lol.
I sent AmiAmi payment for mine on Sunday. I'm hoping mine makes it through. I don't care at all about words on the back I will never see. PLEAASSEEE.
So I cleared up my AmiAmi payment snafu by switching to PayPal, and right after they charged me for him and Mark 50 Iron Man the order got delayed due to this recall. What a roller coaster ride of an order. 
At least this time it isn't an AmiAmi problem now that you guys shared Hobby Search and probably the rest are in the same boat.
