What I'd ideally see in all action figure solicits: a neutral pose of the figure with every accessory in the box laid out before it, and then close up shots of the joints particularly showing their range (elbows and knees especially), and then the action shots.

The MAFEX Joker has double elbows but single knees... but both get about the same range because of their engineering. I'm hoping the single cuts on Robin allow for good range, they look specifically cut out to allow for quite a bit.

They've had this odd thing going on lately where if it's not a skin tight onesie style outfit, they seem to not want to break up the sculpt on the upper arms so they give them a single elbow with swivel instead. The Winter Soldier Caps have been the most notable other victims of this approach. It's certainly not ideal but I guess I can live with it i because once in hand, I just know him, Bruce, Dick and Helena are gonna look amazing together.

I was somewhat interested in this guy and figured I'd get him, but not after this review.  The butterfly cover getting stuck up in the torso in weird positions that prevent the arms from fully moving along with the way that the arms won't go down by his sides very well flipped me from being on the line to being out.  The sculpt and overall aesthetic is insanely good though so if you love the character he definitely looks like a must-buy.

Very surprising to see these engineering design issues cropping up after barely seeing any for a few years.

Kaiju's review of Hush Riddler.  Similar to Scarecrow I'm still on the fence with this guy, but he mostly seems fine aside from the bad head articulation and the fact that Kaiju's right forearm seems to fall out easily that may just be his copy.  Does anyone else have him yet, and if so do either of your forearms come out easily like Kaiju's?

We're getting definitive A-list Batman villains in this line and nobody's even discussing them on release.

My Riddler came in yesterday. I got around to opening him today. He's your standard 7.5 or 8/10 figure from MAFEX. The leg articulation is somewhat limited, and my figure's left arm pops out at the arm socket. Outside of that, I don't have any complaints. The colors are eye-catching. I threw him in a flamboyant Fred Astaire-type pose and probably won't touch him again. (Maybe that's why he hasn't inspired much discussion?) He looks phenomenal on the shelf and checks a huge box for my DC/Batman display. I'm glad to have him even if I'm using him as a statue.

That's what I've been assuming.  I'll probably get one or both--but right now I'm out on Scarecrow, but that kind of opinion often changes later--but they're both a bit meh.  Neither is a clear win like Bane was.

I canceled my Scarecrow preorder as well. He's a decent looking figure, but I just don't think he merits the price. I may very well change my mind later, but funds are tight and I just can't justify spending that much on a figure that isn't amazing in every way.

I'm waiiting on amiami to charge me for my for Riddler, but I think I'm going to let that one go. They always threaten to cut off my account if I cancel something, but they eventually come crawling back later so I'm not worried 😋

I've skipped most of the Hush villains, including the Joker, because I don't like the aesthetic of the Hush figures. I got the Batmen, but as far as DC comic MAFEX I vastly prefer everything not connected to Hush, like Bane and the Return of Superman figures. Spandex Riddler is my preference, but if I'm getting Riddler in a suit then he at least needs question marks on his suit, which the Hush doesn't.

You can't really blame Mafex for that, they are using Jim Lee's art for the designs

Even the old DCD figure didnt have question marks all over the suit

I got Hush Batman because the hype overwhelmed me and when the third (?) release came around I thought I better cave.

I got the Hush Catwoman and Harley and I want to get Ivy because I want some updated 6" Bat-females.

I don't need any of the other villains, I don't think.  As far as a 6" Joker goes, I don't know who does it better than 4 Horsemen's DCSH Joker from what.....two decades ago?  I love it.  Hush Scarecrow is tempting but I'd prefer a less polished look.

I've got amiami waiting on me to pay for Riddler, but I think I'm going to let that one go. They always threaten to cut off my account if I cancel something, but they eventually come crawling back later so I'm not worried 😋

Amiami story that popped up on an FB group this morning. They packed a figure and DVD in an oversized box and charged $84 in shipping.

I wouldn't have paid if I saw that shipping price. Might as well by the figure from someone in the US. Just last week, I got an SHF Kinnikuman figure from amiami. The price was practically the same as BBTS. The difference mostly in sales tax BBTS has to charge.

Inflated shipping is something I have noticed as well at different import shops post COVID.

Essentially, the way I make sense of it, is that for a while the average MAFEX import was ~75 in USD. Then the yen dropped in value against the dollar, and things got really really cheap for people buying from the US. You could have that figure for $75, shipped, or less. Considering that a lot of business is in exporting, I imagine several Japanese stores took notice and realized all of their figures were perpetually on sale, relatively speaking, to Americans. If they ended the "sale", Americans would still be buying the same figures for the same prices, but they'd make more money.

I noticed shipping slowly going up with import companies, particularly ones that charged the least for the figure itself - like Amiami. Shipping itself has gone up in price post COVID, but certain import companies seemed to scale their increases higher than others, sometimes to a ridiculous degree.

My theory was they were recouping the lost USD from the exchange rate in the shipping. Luring people in with cheap POs, then balancing it on the backend by skimming some money off of shipping and handling.

Now it seems like companies like MAFEX have caught on to the "all these figures are on sale in the USA" idea. They have increased the retail cost of their figures, so what a MAFEX costs in USD today is about the same as what it was pre pandemic. They are making a lot more in yen, but the same amount in USD. Some stores have not reduced shipping to compensate.

I have switched import stores several times because of shipping. Sometimes, the store with the higher priced PO is much cheaper because of shipping.
