And I was excited for the MAFEX KnightFall Bats, too. That was gonna be THE definitive Batman in my collection.
But that Jim Lee head sculpt...
That Batman figure is my most anticipated Mafex figure of the year. I'm pretty sure some customerizers will do a proper Jim Aparo or a 70s/80s era Batman headsculp.
@blackcomicnerd Agreed. I cancelled mine. So anticipated but ultimately underwhelming.
That Batman is a miss...canceled my preorder for him. Massive letdown.
Well, count me in the camp of folks that are still psyched about this figure. Got my charge notice from HLJ. I always use DHL for shipping, so with any luck, I should have it by early next week!
Is there a post earlier in the thread with details about why people hate the Knightfall headsculpts? They look great to me, but I'm mostly a Marvel zombie so I'm not well-versed in the history of Batman's looks. I wasn't reading anywhere around Knightfall; this Batman just reminds me of the 1970s/1980s costume from when I was a kid.
to be perfectly fair, I think this headsculpt is more reflective of Graham Nolan's work throughout Batman Knightfall, moreso than Jim Aparo. Is it the sharpest likeness? No, not really. But regardless I'm not going to thumb my nose at this release. I havent had a good batman figure in this costume and in the 6" scale in over 10 years so I'm glad Mafex can at least help me remedy that.

My problem with the headsculpt is that it reuses Jim Lee headsculpt from the previously released Hush Batman, and was just given longer ears. Which is IMO not excusable on a 100$ figure.

Same - just paid for my pre-order so should be here next week - can't wait!
I'm fine with the headsculpts. I think the standard one has a sort of 'inspired by' Norm Breyfogle look to it. At worst, it's a blend of Aparo, Nolan, and Breyfogle rather than definitively looking like any specific '80s / '90s artist rendition.

I was there in '92-93 reading these comics on the edge of my seat and damn I think they nailed this figure. Way more satisfied with this offering than HUSH. The Lee Batman should be bigger like Cyclops (I read those X-Men comics too and they nailed Lee's style). Mafex has nailed the art style and costume designs better than Hasbro or McFarlane and that's why I will support them. Wish they had more DC offerings.
Mine is on the way! Can't wait!
@mistervoorhees I see a little bit of Jim Balent in the long eared headsculpt. Especially when paired with the scalloped shoulder piece
Kaiju Daddy has some pics of Mafex Bane (full review to follow)
Received the Knight Crusader Batman yesterday. Honestly, pics/videos do not do it justice. Even the long-eared head sculpt (which i was not originally a fan of) looks great, particularly paired with the 'pointy' cape. This is a must-have, IMO.
