Marvel Legends: Avengers Infinite Series Hellcat

Marvel-Legends-Avengers-Infinite-Hellcat-Review-header

Age of Ultron is getting so close now. We are just a little over a month away until the highly-anticipated sequel to 2012’s Avengers movie hits the big screens and if you are like me, the wait is a killer. Well, there is no use in sitting around twiddling our thumbs and I cannot think of a better way to bide my time than to catch up on an all-new wave of action figures.

Yep, following quickly behind the All Father wave, the Marvel Legends Infinite series line continues, and this time  you will be able to build the MCU bad man himself, Thanos. Now, as you would expect, you are going to need to get some figures based off of the the up-coming movie to get all for your Titan chunks, but as usual, Hasbro has also thrown in some comic-based figures as well. So, while I am probably counting Batroc as my most-anticipated figure in the wave, Hellcat here is definitely the most unexpected. I mean, even though her name barely appears on the packaging, I thought for sure she would be off-limits no matter what due to that moniker. But here we are, and all is well.

So, while she might be unexpected, she is most certainly welcome and our “second tier” Avengers have been filling out quite nicely over the past couple of years. In case  you didn’t know, Hellcat is the “swap out” figure with Spider Woman in this assortment, even though they are both shipping in the cases. That is good as it cuts down on the timing of the hunt, but it also means that you still only need five figures to complete Thanos instead of six as these ladies carry the same piece.

If you have any of the newer ML females from the past year or so, you are going to be pretty familiar with Hellcat’s build. I am a fan of most of the pieces that they have assembled for the females, and while she does share some pieces with several other figures, I would say that, minus the high heels, Hellcat is most closely related to Medusa in terms of parts. I think that is very appropriate for the character, so we are good from a likeness standpoint, though I do prefer the arms with the biceps swivels instead of the “elbros” that are featured here. Hellcat has a “medium” build so she is thicker than say, the Black Widow figure, but not nearly as muscular as Moonstone.

She does have a nice head sculpt and it captures the essence of her iconic look well. She does sport her long ginger locks which is great, but plan on the hair sculpt inhibiting a bit of the neck articulation. Hasbro did give her clawed hands which are appropriate to the character, but she also features a repaint on the Daredevil baton as a weapon. This is nice, but I don’t really think of it when Hellcat comes to mind.

Finally, I keep getting the feeling that I am also staring at a Crystal (of the Inhumans) when I look at this figure. Yellow figures are kind of rare so having the plastic parts assembled here should be popular with customizers. While I am certain we will see an official Crystal figure from Hasbro at some point in the future (with an MCU Inhumans movie announced and all), I know we will see custom Crystals built off of this figure long before then.

So, hooray for Hellcat! I  never thought I would be able to add Patsy to my Avengers display, but here we are and I cannot be happier about it. Hellcat makes for a nice female figure, but I don’t think I hold her in as high regard as I do say, the Scarlet Witch or Warbird. That is not to say that she is not a great figure, but ML is making us pretty spoiled as of late. Check out the video below for more insight into this figure and stay tuned, we will have more ML goodness coming your way soon.
