Bandai – Batman: Arkham City Level 2 SprüKit

Bandai Batman Arkham City Sprukit Featured

Okay, so I stumbled a bit with my first SprüKit build, Halo’s Master Chief, but the second time around I had no problems whatsoever. My second build? Batman from Arkham City. Awesome final figure with one slight nitpick and one huge misstep.

I’m going to get the elephant in the room out of the way right off the bat. That cape. I can kind of understand the reasoning to go with a thin, flimsy plastic, but it doesn’t help me like it any better. Yes, it bends out of the way in any position you can put the figure into, and the figure can hit a hell of a lot of poses. But the cape does not look good in any of those poses. It doesn’t look good in any shape or form. The saving grace is that customizers have come up with all kinds of ways to make cloth capes, or you could probably find a suitable plastic cape somewhere. Seriously, as much as I don’t care for cloth this figure screams for that kind of material to keep all the awesome posing possibilities intact. The figure itself is definitely worth saving.

I’m not kidding, the articulation on this Batman figure is amazing. And to go through the process of putting together all of that articulation is equal parts interesting and fulfilling. I skip the build video this time around but I do an articulation breakdown in my FwooshTube review.

While the missing ab joint is slightly missed, my tiny nitpick is the eyes not having any coloring to them. This is because all the parts to this kit are molded in the respective colors and no paint is used, and having the eyes as a separate piece like the bat logo and faceplate would be an unreasonable request. I totally allow Bandai to slide on this one. And really, it’s just a couple of dabs of white paint. Or Batman is sleeping.

Bats comes with two fists, two grip hands, and one splayed open left hand. The grip hands are solid pieces this time, compared to Master Chief’s two piece hands that you must split apart in order to place a weapon within. Along with the hands he comes with a grapple gun and a batarang. The batarang has a rectangle piece on one side that acts as a handle, making it easier to hold.

Batman has no paint. No rub, no botched lines, no off or mismatched colors. Like I said above, even the bat logo on the chest is a separate piece that plugs in. I’m going to eventually go back and add eyes and maybe shade the skin showing on the face, but playing around with him I don’t feel the need for any extra paint apps on the body.

At the end of the day this is an amazing figure. A little smaller than my preferred scale but I can’t help picking him up and playing around with him. Yeah, the cape, but don’t let that stop you from slapping down $20 for this kit and then finding a replacement cape. Totally worth it.
