Hasbro is currently running a poll allowing fans to determine what a new Transformers figure will be like. Everything from colors to personality to faction allegiance will be decided based upon whichever way the fans vote. It’s an interesting method to establish a new character because it does take into account aspects of the figure beyond just its appearance, and there are many possible combinations; you can decide if he’s a grumpy, mace-wielding Autobot, or maybe it’s a motorcycle that transformers into a Decepticon wildman.
Since this is being run officially by Hasbro, who now partner with IDW fairly closely on design and story, this new character will make its way into one of IDW’s comics to coincide with the release of the figure. It’s logical since personality/demeanor are being voted upon along with appearance, so there’s more to this than their just having something to write about in terms of the description of the character on the box. It’s a pretty cool thing for the fans to get involved with.
