I ask fwooshmembers questions.
They answer them.
Maxim " I’m an insufferable know-it-all that loves to argue."
Where do you live?
I live about 20 miles outside Knoxville, TN. I moved here about 2 years ago from Memphis, TN where I was born and raised.
Where do you work?
I work for a company that is the primary supplier for Wal-Mart’s movies, music, and books. My job in the sales field is going into multiple stores a week and making sure product is out and merchandised accurately. Before this, I served the dark empire for 8 years.
Do you get first dibs on Wal-Mart exclusives? Have you ever
taken advantage of your position at work to get exclusives?
Back when I worked for WM, I had access to their computers and would look up UPCs all the time. It was that access that gave me the scoop on the ML 5 lineup back in Feb. 2003. I was also able to keep tabs on when cases were coming in so I could hopefully score some figures. Nowadays, I’m not that lucky, though my job does have me in various WMs around 8am everyday.
Who is in you family?
My 11 year old daughter and myself. I’ve been a single custodial parent for almost 10 years. She hasn’t seen her mother since she was 2. I have a brother and mother back in Memphis who I visit often.
What does your daughter think of your toy collection?
She thinks it’s neat. She knows quite a few characters from movies and cartoons. She’s got almost a complete set of DC Super Friends and Spidey and Friends figures. She also collected the Power Rangers: Jungle Fury toys too.
Any pets?
None currently. I’ve had cats and a dog before.
What are your future plans?
I’d love to be able to realize my dream to be a full time writer. I have a bunch of different stories going in different formats all in different stages of completion. Everything from short stories, to novels, screenplays, and comic books.
What genre do you enjoy?
I enjoy mysteries, suspense, sci-fi, fantasy, and horror, both reading and writing.
Do you customize?
Not nearly as much as I should considering the amount of fodder I have. I did a few about 5 years ago, and since then everything is just WIPs and planned recipes. But that doesn’t stop me from buying extra figures all the time.
Do you cook?
I manage for 2. Being a single working dad doesn’t leave a lot of time for food preparation so most dinners are quickly thrown together or bought.
Do you sport a moustache?
Currently, I have no facial hair. I did have a goatee for awhile a couple years back.
What is in your collection?
Marvel Legends and it’s related lines make up the bulk of my collection. DCUC/DCSH is quickly growing in size though. I also have MOTU 200X, SOTA’s Street Fighter, Now Playing, and several NECA movie figures.
Where do you vacation? Where would you like to vacation?
We’ll usually head to an amusement/theme park. It’s great living so close to Dollywood as we can go on weekends easily. I’d really like to go to Japan someday.
What other sites do you visit?
I’ll usually hit most of the major toy sites (TNI, AF, AFI, RTM, etc) daily. Non toy sites that I frequent would be imdb, Ebay, and Hulu.
What do you spend your money?
Outside of the toy collection, I mainly spend money on my daughter. We love going out to the movies.
Have you ever been to the hospital?
When I was 10, I developed a serious disorder of the ball and socket joint in the hip. I had to undergo 2 surgeries and wear a double leg cast and later a leg brace for most of a year. Since then, nothing else thankfully. Knock on wood.
What is wrong with you?
I’m an insufferable know-it-all that loves to argue. As most Fwooshers would agree, I’ll argue with just about anyone over just about anything. But I will at least try to back up whatever I say with actual information, pictures, or the occasional graph.
I also might be the reincarnation of Elvis Presley. Memphis was of course the home of Elvis. I was born on August 16, 1977, the day he died. My mom was in labor in the room right next to where they brought him in to try to resuscitate him. I was born 5 minutes after he was pronounced dead.
Thanks Maxim!
