Medicom: MAFEX The Dark Knight Returns Batman Video and Quick Pics

MAFEX just made my second favorite Batman ever!

The first favorite ever being the MAFEX Hush Batman. Yeah, yeah, the cape. It’s like when you flop into bed but can’t quite get comfortable before realizing the sheet and comforter aren’t aligned and the whole thing is crooked, so you lie there deciding whether you want to just accept your fate and wait for sweet slumber or get up and do something about it. Remake the bed. Tuck those corners, then gently pull down the top and slide in, pulling those corners out to form that perfect wrap around your feet while the cover alignment up around your shoulders mate together as if they were made for each other. Hello, dream land!

That’s what the MAFEX Hush Batman cape is like.

The DKR version’s cape is a bit more subdued. It likes to hump up over the shoulders when you pull the wired edges back over the arms, but that can be worked flat.

To make up for that, the body is thick. Not the thickest, but thick. And articulated. And textured, which surprised me. It’s very faint, but it adds some age and wear, almost subconsciously. Which is good because the paint is sparse, mostly just base plastic color and some wash to the belt that makes it pop, but not annoyingly so.

I have some slight floppiness to the hips inside the assembly that doesn’t affect posing much at all, and some tightness to the neck that is squeaky and scary that does affect my mental stability a bit. I need some shock oil and that will be eliminated. Otherwise, a VERY solid release from Medicom.

The Dark Knight Returns Batman is still available on BigBadToyStore, but if you prefer blue and tattered, there’s TDKR Triumphant that is due….sometime in the future along with an untattered version with Robin.
