We’re back with more Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figures and today we’re going to look at mainstay April O’Neil who comes in a two-pack with a battle-damaged Foot Soldier and a ton of cool accessories. Let’s take a look!
April and the Bashed Foot come in the familiar packaging style with a couple of cartoon character art portraits on the front and photographs on the sides and back.
The box is just chock full of accessory goodness with a baby Pizza Monster from The Case of the Killer Pizzas, the Maltese Hamster statue from The Maltese Hamster, a recorder with attached strap and microphone, a Channel 6 microphone, April’s mini Channel 6 News Camera, April’s more compact-like Turtlecom, grip hands for April, a Foot communicator, two ninja stars, two blaster rifles, grip hands, open hands, and karate chop hands.
A highlight for me is the baby Pizza Monster as he’s super cute, looks like he popped out of the episode, and will go nicely with my sewer mutation warrior alien.
I love the specificity of The Maltese Hamster accessory, and even though that episode was not one that made it to my long term memory, I appreciate that this line is by super fans for super fans.
Perfect for when you have to document a story and Vern won’t send a cameraman with you, the mini-camera has a hinged pistol grip handle which facilitates posing nicely and has a great blocky feel with clean paint hits and nice channel six logos.

The tape recorder has a soft plastic strap and cord that attaches to the Channel 6 microphone. It’s also got really clean, simple paint that fits the animated style.

The loose microphone is perfect for on-camera appearances from our roving reporter.
April’s Turtlecom is appropriately tiny, hinges open, and has a nice amount of detail packed into the interior screen and keyboard.
The ninja stars are also extremely small. They fit okay in the Foot Soldier’s hands unless if you’ve stretched those hands out with the handles on the blaster rifles. April holds them better, but I honestly don’t remember this version of April using them.
One of the blasters is familiar from previous releases, but there is a new blaster that has rings on the barrel that gives it a particularly ’50s sci-fi feel and feels like it popped off the screen.
The communicator is also familiar from previous releases, but this one has Bebop on the screen for variety’s sake.
The grip, fist and karate chop hands are the same as the original figure and work well, but I really love the inclusion of new open hands. They are perfect for standing around, creeping or flailing poses and add nice variety to the foot.
The bashed Foot Soldier is mostly the same as his previous release, but he’s got a new torso with a rip that exposes the Soldier’s mechanical innards. I love the way they captured the particular Ninja Turtle tech style with the exposed parts with the thick wires and blocky parts.
The articulation is the same as the previous Foot Soldier.
April looks to be all new and is fully articulated with:
- Ball and socket head and mid-torso
- Swivel/hinge shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, and ankles
- Double hinged knees

The articulation is good, but it took me a while to get the upper knee hinge to move. The elbows are interesting because it’s two hinges that swivel where they are attached at the bicep and the lower arm and has wonderful range of motion. The lower torso has a soft plastic overlay that allows the legs to move forward.

I think scale-wise April is a little short for my taste, but overall, I like this set a lot. April is an essential character that comes with a ton of show specific gear and I’m an army builder fan, so it’s great to get more additions to my Foot army. Thanks again to NECA for sending these along and check back for more later in the week!
