Sometimes when you spin the pre-order wheel, you come up empty. While most of my toy reviewing bretheren have seemingly had this figure for months, Amazon still hasn’t shipped my pre-order from the first day it popped up online. Fortunately Pulse came through for me last month, so let’s take a look at the Yellow Ranger!
I didn’t end up taking pics of the box, but there are nice ones on the Pulse if you absolutely need them. As boxes go, the Lightning Collection has a classy eye-catching design.
Trini comes with quite a few accessories including an unmasked portrait, two Power Daggers, a Blade Blaster, two extra hands, and a pair of blast effects.
The extra head, for my money, is the most successful of the unmasked portraits in the line so far. It looks like a decent likeness and the printing is sharp and clean.
The daggers are slightly soft in details and the plastic is a little more flexible than I would like and can bend. The paint is pretty spare on the details, but they are ultimately serviceable.
The daggers can slot into holes in the translucent yellow blast effects and stay on fairly well, though the hand grips are a little loose and the extra weight of the effects can cause the blades to move when you don’t want them to.
The blade blaster is something we’ve seen with the other MMPR figures and is stuck in blaster mode, so while it fits in the holster it doesn’t look quite right. I do wish they would include the folded up version with the figure. Trini can hold the blaster in three of the included hands, but one does seem particularly designed for it. The hands do not swap easily. I was a little afraid I would break them because I had to apply a lot of force to pop them out.
Sculpting on this figure is pretty great. It re-uses a lot of the Pink Ranger parts and the proportions look really nice and the articulation is all useful and fun to play with. The pecs aren’t as well integrated into the body which stands out a bit, but is also really functional and allows the arms a great range of motion. Trini has:
- Swivel/hinge neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, and ankles
- Double hinged knees
- Swivel thighs and boots
- Ball and socket head and mid torso
- Hinged pecs and lower torso

Paint is good on the figure with strong lines and good color matching across the different yellow costume parts. The daggers don’t quite pop as well as they could and a little more paint detail could have helped them.

Overall, this figure is a ton of fun to play with and pose and I really like her range of motion more than the male rangers. I got the figure on the same day as the amazing new Snake Eyes figure and she’s held her own staying out on my desk with him the whole time.
