I received these from Amazon today so I thought I’d throw up a couple of pics and comments. More pics than comments (Editor’s note: He wrote this lead-in before commenting on Batman, making Robo a dirty liar), but you get the idea.
First up, Catwoman, since I really like her…
I wasn’t really frothing at the mouth for this version of Catwoman, but it did my heart proud when I was browsing pics from the Con where she was unveiled and my son said “Catwoman!” Thank you Brave and the Bold! So I knew I had to have her.
At the end of the day, I’m glad to have this Catwoman. Sure, she’s has the usual skinny arms and seems a little short, but she fits right in with the rest of the line. She’s classic, which is a bonus. Well, depending on who you are. And she’s the most recognizable version to my 7 year old, tied with the Arkham City version. She may be a little hard to stand with those high heels though. Have to find that balance point.
And then there’s Batman. Oh, FA Batman, how I’ve always wanted you. And you’re okay, but not quite.
I want to like this figure. And there are a few things to like. I like that he has one fist. I like how the cowl looks. I like that he’s using a smaller body instead of the usual big body. And I like the belt.
But the negatives outweigh the positives here. My biggest pet peeve, here and in the line in general (and other lines)…head size. Too small. Again. His hands are nearly as big as his head! Maybe the hands are also large and that in turn overemphasizes the smallness of the head? Either way, it stabs me in the heart. And then the collar. Why? I can only guess it’s there to simulate the full neck/head piece as one solid entity. But it doesn’t work. It just comes off as a bad turtleneck. While I appreciate the effort in attempting to give us a cape that covers the shoulders the material is too thick and causes the cape to float above the actual body. Which makes it look like he has even less of a neck. Which in turn makes the head look even smaller. Which makes the hands look even larger. It’s like an avalanche. And can a guy get some glove cuffs?
I don’t hate him. I don’t love him, I might not really like him truth be told, but I don’t hate him. Parts is parts.
