Jazwares: Fortnite Legendary Series Ruin

We are wrapping up our look at the latest wave of Fortnite Legendary Series figures with Ruin!

Ruin comes in the standard Fortnite Legendary Series box with a large window that shows off all the accessories well.

Ruin comes with three guns, a pickaxe, a bundle of dynamite and a backpack.

The dynamite is becoming a familiar weapon in this wave and Ruin can hold it fairly well by extending the grip hand to as wide as it will open.

The pickaxe is themed to fit in with Ruin’s heavy metal vibe and sort of resembles a talon or a bird skull.

The pack feels less like a separate part than a lot of Fortnite packs and more like an extension of the character’s body, almost like a carapace of some kind. There is a red translucent piece underneath the outer web.

The guns have sharp details if somewhat exaggerated proportions. They fit well in the one hand, however it is a little tricky to get a nice two-handed hold pose on any of the weapons because the bicep swivel articulation is impeded by the design of the arm. There is spike on the deltoid that only allows the bicep to swivel a little bit.

Sculpting on Ruin is interesting. He’s all new parts, but seems a little small next to the standard Fortnite figure. The design of this character is very spikey, but the figure itself has a lot of those spikes dulled (probably in order to meet safety standards) so my overall impression of him is that he is melting.

The articulation is okay with the usual points, but the aforementioned bicep swivel issue is pretty annoying. His head also doesn’t get much movement and the ratchets in the wrists and ankles are pretty tight. He has the hinged pecs but they don’t really move at all on my figure.

Paint is adequate on this figure as he’s mostly cast in a good metallic gray plastic and has a little bit of silver drybrushing to bring out the armor details. The glowing red parts of his body are painted in a fairly flat red that doesn’t really give the impression of a glow.

Overall, I don’t love this one. His smaller size and softer sculpted details don’t quite live up to the character model and I find posing him with his weapons a little annoying.
