The Lightning collection wave three hit some places a few weeks back, but not in my area. I found them all at Target last week except for Lord Drakkon. Wave three was on the pegs at multiple Targets in my area with the exception of this figure. Thankfully my Amazon pre-order actually came through for once. They’ve been so hit-or-miss lately. Let’s take a look at Lord Drakkon!
I still dig these lightning collection boxes. The white in concert with that bright graphic looks killer.
The figure comes with the Dragon Dagger, an unmasked head, a spark effect, two fists, and two grip hands.
The Dragon Dagger looks like the same accessory that came with the original Green Ranger and it fits well in the holster. The dagger is cast in a softer plastic than the hand, so it’s a little fiddly to get the weapon in the hands.

The spark effect looks like re-use of the spark effect from the White Ranger. It doesn’t quite fit solidly on the dagger as it’s designed for that sword, but I was able to balance it in some poses.
The highlight is probably the alternate head as it matches the live action Lord Drakkon well and the face printing works nicely on the eyes. They have a life to them that you don’t always see with action figures. I also like the effect of the electricity scars along the face.
I kind of wish he came with the sword from the White Ranger figure since Lord Drakkon is shown using it in some of the comics I’ve seen.
The figure looks to be based largely on the White Ranger body with some new pieces. The Dragon shield has some nice sharp angles and the helmet looks solidly detailed.
The figure moves well and articulation should be familiar to those that collect the line with:
- Swivel/hinge shoulders, neck, wrists, hips, and ankles.
- Double hinged knees and elbows.
- Ball and socket head and mid-torso
- Swivel thighs, boots, and biceps
- Hinged lower torso
The paint is fair. I actually like the quality of the gold paint on this figure for the most part as it’s fairly shiny. There is a little bit of slop around the dragon shield details which brings it down a bit for me.
Overall I dig this figure. I think eventually I might tire of the same feel that the heavy parts re-use gives these figures, but I’m still enjoying it now. The Design for Drakkon is very appealing to me on just a cool figure level and now I’m interested in reading the comics to see this alternate universe evil version of Tommy in action.
