We’re back with more Marvel Legends, this time with the Infinity War two pack of Bucky and The Falcon from Infinity War. This two pack is a bit of an odd duck, so let’s take a look!
The figures come in the now familiar window box packaging that shows off the figures nicely, some snazzy artwork on the box sides and a nice photograph of the two figures on the back. It’s standard, but does the job.
The set comes with Falcon, Bucky, Falcon’s flight pack and wings, and two guns. The guns are a re-release of Marvel TV Punisher’s gun and a repaint of the techno-sniper weapon that came with the original Hydra Soldier and the first Winter Soldier legends figure.
I don’t really care for the sci-fi sniper gun. It doesn’t really fit the style of figure or the MCU style in any way. The Punisher gun works a lot better for me, though it doesn’t match his weapon from Infinity War, it at least looks like a plausible MCU weapon. It is slightly rubbery.
Bucky’s body appears new to me and matches pretty well with his Infinity War costume, though his hair and beard don’t quite work for that version of the character. I think the overall sculpt works well, though there is an oddness on the right calf of my figure. I think it may have been assembled backwards as the sculpt is a bit awkward where it meets the boot.
The headsculpt does pop easily on to the other Winter Soldier figure bodies that we already have and they benefit from the nice face printing paint work.
Articulation is Marvel Legends standard with:
- Swivel/hinge shoulders, wrists, hips, and ankles
- Double hinged elbows
- Swivel waist, thighs, boot, and biceps
- Single hinged mid-torso and neck
- Ball and socket head.
I like that the right hand has an up/down hinge for gun holding poses. The paint is decent, with the face printing improving the overall appearance of the head sculpt from the Civil War Bucky figure.
Falcon appears to be a repaint of the Wal-Mart Exclusive Falcon. That was a tough figure to track down as I recall, so that could be where the value of this set lies for some.
The wings attach securely via two pegs to holes in the back of the back pack. The wings attach securely to the pack and the pack to the figure, and while the wings aren’t poseable, they are very solid and stable.
The pack has a piece you can take off to simulate his drone, Redwing flying away, unfortunately he did not come with the in-flight version of Redwing. He really could also use some guns. His hands are clearly sculpted to use them and the character uses twin guns in his every appearance, so I’m not sure why they haven’t included them.
The articulation is Marvel Legends standard just like Bucky with the exception that Falcon’s boots do not swivel. The articulation moves fairly well, though I don’t like how his arms don’t want to rest all the way down at his sides.
Since Falcon wears goggles, the face printing doesn’t quite improve on the original paints as much as they do for Bucky, but I do like this new head better than the old one. Otherwise the paint is good with solid detail work on the costume.
I had mentioned that this pack was a bit of an odd duck and while I like the figures fine, I don’t think they go quite far enough to match the Infinity War appearance for Bucky. The head sculpt looks really nice, but that’s not really how he looks in the film. Falcon is a decent repaint, but I don’t feel like I really needed him since I have the Wal-Mart version and I wonder if those who missed the Wal-Mart version will want this one without Redwing. There are some slight paint tweaks, but it’s a little lame that we have to add our own guns to Falcon.
I went ahead and gave Falcon a couple of Plan B rifles. I’m still on the look out for some better paired guns for him.
