Medicom: MAFEX Star Wars: The Last Jedi First Order Stormtrooper and Executioner Promotional Images and Pre-Order Info

Happy Whatever-Holiday-You-Choose-To-Celebrate-Today Day! Some are nestled snug in their beds, others have children excitedly waking them up. And some of us are sitting around in our pajamas on the internet, looking for toys. Headcasts, ebay, older stuff….whoa, new action figures? Medicom, you always have the oddest timing.

Not only that, but the standard Stormtrooper isn’t so standard.

But let’s first take a look at the First Order Stormtrooper Executioner.

There isn’t a lot of difference in the Stormtroopers from The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. The helmet is the biggest one, and even that’s subtle. The frown is more frowny. There may be some change around the wrists but otherwise, same thing. Which is consistent with the original trilogy. I like how the Executioner adds some black to diverge from the standard a bit. I just wish it had more to do in the movie.

Plus I’m a sucker for asymmetrical design, even though it bugs the hell out of me. Like eating spicy food, even though you know you’re going to pay for it later.

Mah gah, when did I get this old.

But I will say that this is the most accurate version of the weapon electricity I’ve seen in plastic form. Medicom may always be late to the party but I think it’s on purpose.

My problem will be that it’s big, if it’s anything like older figures. And considering the fact it will probably reuse 95% of the older MAFEX figure that’ll probably be the case. He looks great holding the “ax” though.

Heavy reuse may play a big factor in the accessory count of the standard TLJ Stormtrooper too.

Again, mostly the same. Hell, if you threw both movie versions out I’d have a tough time telling them apart.

But in the case of this one, it’s going to be the accessories that sets it above the rest.

Gaaaaah. THIS is what should happen every time a “new” toy is just a new head or paint job. Load that sucker up with extras!

And even better, it’s no more expensive that the Executioner. I feel it will be big, and I really don’t need any more FO Stormtroopers on the shelf, but the compulsion to get this is too strong. It’s too good of a deal.

Again, my age is showing. Is there a senior citizen discount too??

Both figures are running about $67 and have a scheduled release of August 2018.
