Rounding out this round of First Looks, we bring what looks to be the final “large” figure in the JLU line, S.T.R.I.P.E. It has been a heck of a run for this line and as it prepares for it’s swan song at the end of 2011, fans have a lot of things to be happy about. Over the years is has become one of the most expansive superhero action figure lines in history and has had legs that went beyond the in-show characters. For the final year though, Mattel is ramping up as many of the characters that appeared in the show that have not yet had figures for release. One of the most requested over the years has been used-to-be-Stripesy, S.T.R.I.P.E. He has finally sees his release this June on Matty Collector as the final oversized figure in the line.
As a big Justice Society fan, I am really happy that Mattel got this one out to us, and that they did so in style. He is a big boy and come with two separate heads – helmeted and the Pat Dugan likeness. He features the standard JLU scheme of five points of articulation at the neck, shoulders and hips. All of the paint applications on this sample are very well done with no bleeding of slop. I am especially fond of the pearlescent paint/plastic used on the suit pieces, they have a nice metallic quality to them. Oh, and his feet are giant so no need to worry about him falling over.
While it is sad to see the JLU line fade away this year, it is great that it will be going out on some very strong points. S.T.R.I.P.E. is one of the very best figures in the line so far and has been well worth the wait. As an in-show character a lot of fans will be glad to be able to cross him off of their want lists and stand him on their shelves. TOWERING over Stargirl.

*Thanks again for joining us on this latest First Look tour. As always, we appreciate the crew at Mattel for sending along these samples to make it all possible. See you soon!
