You know, even though I’m just diving into the Dragon Ball Z universe and loving the Figure-rise model kits, I’m most impressed with Bandai’s handling of the line. You can set your watch to it. They announce, they solicit, they release. And in fairly fast order. Of course, this is Bandai we’re talking about.
Maybe I’ve got Star Wars on the brain but it seems like only yesterday that Bandai showed a bunch of models for the Figure-rise Standard DBZ line and here we are, already four figures deep with two on the horizon, another two about to be solicited, a Mechanics Saiyan Pod dropping this month, and even effects out of nowhere. It just seems quick, y’know? And now here they go with another vehicle.
Now for me the models that are figures are the bee’s knees. Fun to build, awesome when assembled. I’m not too into vehicles and such, but somehow Bandai got me to consider them. Mostly because they are 1:12 scaled and supplement the figure line perfectly. The downside is that the included characters are basically statues.
It makes sense though. Even if it were a fully articulated figure it wouldn’t look that different once stuffed into such a tiny vessel. An actual figure would bump the price up too. So I guess this is the best way to get vehicles out. And even if they do release this form of Frieza later as single figure you’ll still get your chance to cram it into the pod since you do end up with a complete interior when empty.
