My backwoods self would probably butcher the Japanese names and phrases so I’ll keep those to a minimum, but the figma Section Chief Kogure figure looks too awesome not to talk about! Macho guy in a suit? Gimme!
First of all, yes, the figure looks fantastic. But after some research into the background of the character I came across the description of the show from which it’s based. Seibu Keisatsu.
With its flashy, over-the-top explosion scenes, and car stunts, this series gained a reputation as a macho drama. It is representative of the police & detective dramas of the 1980s.
During the 5-year course of the show, a total of 236 episodes were filmed, with roughly 4,680 cars being destroyed during the course of filming, 4.8 tons of explosives being used as well as close to 320 buildings destroyed.
Holy! Not only do I want this figure now, I have a whole new show to watch. I want vehicles too!
If nothing else, this looks like a great suited body. And you can’t have an 80’s cop drama without smoking.
It even has another head without the sunglasses. Not sure if this an earlier version or not, but the shirt is also different with the stripes along with a different tie. What would be over the top is an interchangeable piece there for different suit looks. I’d buy two.
Now the bad news. Being figma and an import it’s going to run about $80. And it doesn’t go on sale until January of 2017. What? But I want this now!
Yeah, that’s a tank. I’m going to need one of those too.
Now, there is a suited figma figure, Kazuma Kiryu from the game Yakuza. It’s slated to release in a couple of months and it’s half the price but I don’t know. Just something about it doesn’t look as badass as Kogure.
