Prometheum5: Shapeways Star Wars Accessories

Prometheum5 Accessories_07We have covered quite a few Masters of the Universe and Transformers third-party items over the past few years at The Fwoosh, and I love to see talented individuals share their talents with fans and help us all get a little more out of the toys we buy through official channels. Today I’m going to look at some 3D-printed accessories for the 6-inch scale Star Wars Black Series sculpted by Prometheum5!

Prometheum5 Accessories_11I have an army of Stormtroopers, Scout Troopers, Sandtroopers and First Order Stormtroopers, so I appreciate any items I can find to help differentiate these guys a little and make them stand out a bit, and all of the items I’m looking at today do just that.

Prometheum5 Accessories_03The Walmart exclusive Battlefront Imperial Shock Trooper figure looked like it was missing something at first glance. The first time I had ever seen one of these troopers in game footage, they had a backpack. They Hot Toys version also come with this backpack. Now, you can play Battlefront as a Shock Trooper without the pack, but I feel like it really completes the look. At first blush, I thought the pack was just a Sandtrooper pack, but it is quite a bit different, the main difference is size.

Prometheum5 Accessories_04Prometheum5 sculpted his version after the Sideshow toy and it’s a great match in detail and proportion. The sculpt looks fantastic and adds so much to the Shock Trooper figure. I got it printed in black strong flexible plastic and it looks pretty great with no paint whatsoever.

Prometheum5 Accessories_05I like Shapeways stuff as simple custom projects, so I added a coat of flat black paint and a little bit of weathering and some paint details here and there. The pack plugs in nice and secure into the figure’s existing peg hole.

The next item is the rt-97c Blaster Rifle. This weapon is seen in A New Hope briefly wielded by Sandtroopers, but you have to have eagle eyes to spot it. It’s a little more prominent as a weapon in the Battlefront game.

Prometheum5 Accessories_06Like the pack, the sculpt is sharp and detailed and looks proportional on the figure. I just like a little more variety added to my Trooper’s weapons complements.

Prometheum5 Accessories_08Like the pack, I think it works fine with no paint; the black plastic has a bit of a weathered look already that works pretty well, but I like to try my hand at weathering and paint effects on these Shapeways items with some simple dry-brushing techniques.

Prometheum5 Accessories_09The final item is a SE-14r blaster pistol, shown in publicity stills, but not in the final movie. It recently saw release in the Bandai Model Kit Stormtrooper.

Prometheum5 Accessories_02I wanted a few of these for my Hasbro Troopers, and this sharp little sculpt works great with them, fitting nicely in the hand.

Prometheum5 Accessories_13I ordered these in white, so I had to paint them, but the paint soaks in well so I’m not seeing much paint rub on the handle. I’ve noticed with Shapeways that the first coat soaks into the porous material pretty well.

Prometheum5 Accessories_10Head on over to Shapeways if you are interested in buying on of these cool accessories for your figures. Prometheum5 has a lot of other neat stuff there, including rifles for the prototype Boba Fett, a DL-18 blaster pistol and a Kenner-style Tie-Fighter Pilot pistol all for the Black Series.
