Tired of waiting for Hasbro to announce C-3PO? Not happy with the Black Series R2-D2? Don’t want to build the Bandai models? Or, like me, you don’t want to dirty up your pretty, shiny ceremony model versions of the droids? Medicom has us covered.
AmiAmi has put up a pre-order for Medicom’s next MAFEX figures and they are none other than everyone’s favorite Star Wars droids, C-3PO and R2-D2. They are being sold together as a set for $68, which kind of hurts with the Darth Vader pre-order going for $28. Gold plating must be expensive, as the model kit 3PO was also higher than the rest.
The other rub is that these aren’t due until May 2016. Darth Vader has suffered delays so I’m slightly leary about these making it out on time too, but they do look to be worth the wait.
C-3PO comes with interchangeable hands, with at least one to hold the comlink. His listed height is 147mm, or 5.79 inches, which falls right in line with the Bandai model kit so it should look good with your other 1:12 scale figures.
R2-D2 is listed 87mm tall, or 3.43 inches. Again, this matches the model kit and is larger than the Black Series version, which a lot of people had a problem with. R2 can be displayed with or without the third leg “without exchanging parts” which I assume means it retracts into the body. He comes with his Jabba’s barge drink tray and a little hologram Leia.
