Now, you didn’t think that the DC team at Imaginext would make a Batman with a Batmobile and nowhere to park it, did you? Of course not! You just knew Batsy would have an equally impressive home base, right? Well, you have got to check out the Transforming Batcave.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, Imaginext does such a great job with all of their offerings. The fact that all of their licensed stuff, along with their proprietary brands, fits together is so cool, so if you wanted some ghosts, pirates, aliens, or Power Rangers to invade the Batcave, they certainly can. However, if I were them, I would pause before doing anything drastic because this Batcave is outfitted with a ton of traps and defenses fitting of a millionaire playboy vigilante.

Standing at nearly three feet tall, this playset has a lot of room for your little Imaginext figures to run about. Batman can take the controls at the computer, store his weaponry, and even workout against a sparring dummy on the roof. However, when danger calls and the Joker invades, the Batcave transforms by arming and expanding. Sure, Mista J might be all over the computer, but Batman still has the upper hand.

From the roof, two bat wings stretch out to complete the full theme, and the eyes of the control room up top (in the image of Batman’s cowl) light up, so you know the cave is on lockdown. Batman can make his way up to the central command to make sure all of the systems are working to drive out any intruders. If a missile launch would suit the situation better, there is one on the left side, so if any of Rogues try to get at the Bat Computer, they better watch out.

In the basement Bats can park the Batmobile, but he can also lock up the included Joker figure, or any other Rogues you would like. The two sides pull out from the middle so when you have it expanded, it moves beyond a tower and more into a traditional playset shape. The elevator in the back can move Bats from the ground to the top because what good is a Batcave without a Bat Elevator?

This set also includes a standard black and grey Batman figure and a Joker in a prison jumpsuit. I did not previously have a “standard” Batman, so it is nice to get him here, and the new Joker is in a different deco that is perfect for sitting in the basement cell. Now, I do want to say that this Joker is noticeably bigger than the standard Joker (or even Batman), so I am not sure if this is a slight scale shift, or just a different take on Joker.

This set is a ton of fun, and if you are going to do the Imaginext Batman thing, this is a definite requirement. You can find it at your local store now, and with an MSRP of less than $50, it is well worth it.
