We are celebrating the return of HBO’s Game of Thrones with a look back at the Funko Legacy Game of Thrones Series 2 figures. Today we look at the Young Wolf, King in the North, and King of the Trident — Robb Stark!
Poor Robb. Back when I actually thought somebody might actually win “The Game of Thrones,” I really thought Robb had a chance.
He had just cause, battle savvy, and cunning, but it all fell apart piece by piece. It’s pretty sad rewatching seasons 1 and 2 of Game of Thrones because you can track each little misstep that seemed insignificant at the time, but they all lead to his downfall.
It seems even more tragic to me after reading the books and finding out he was only 16!
Robb comes with a nice solid sword that fits well in his attached scabbard. The line isn’t really accessory heavy, but the only thing I think he’s really missing is a dire wolf.
Robb and Jon don’t quite feel complete to me without the wolves. I gave Robb a wolf from a diamond select Dracula that kinda works, but has no articulation and needs a repaint.
I love this sculpt. The head is a great likeness match for actor Richard Madden, and the armor/wooly cape combo makes for nice shelf presence.
Like all of the Legacy Game of Thrones figures, the costume details are sharply realized and detailed.
Robb has the following articulation
- Ball-and-socket head and mid-torso
- Swivel/Hinge shoulders, elbows, hips, wrists, and ankles
- Swivel thighs
- Double-hinged knees
The articulation moves well and Robb has a particularly good ball and socket torso joint with a great range of motion. The elbows don’t quite get a 90 degree bend and that makes some sword fighting poses more difficult.
Paint is good for the most part, with nice metallics for the armor and washes to bring out detail. The beard paint is a little spotty for my taste.
I’d say Robb is another hit for Funko. He moves well and looks good on the shelf in a variety of poses. I only wish I had some Lannister soldiers for him to kill and a wolf to run with.
