Hasbro: G.I. Joe Classified Dawn Moreno Snake Eyes Pre-Order

The G.I. Joe A Real American Hero Comic has run for 325 issues across three publishers and several decades and the driving force behind this success is writer Larry Hama. This week Hama had a signing of issue #325 at Midtown Comics in New York where a new G.I. Joe Classified action figure was revealed.
The new character is Dawn Moreno, who became Snake Eyes after the original’s death during the IDW Comics run. Created by Hama, Dawn was a fully fleshed out character that has had an interesting run in the books. I have to admit to a bit of cynicism initially about the idea of a “Lady Snake Eyes”, but I needn’t have worried because Larry’s story steeped in the continuity of the series and a legion of talented illustrators have made it an interesting read and even this crusty old fan has embraced Dawn as a crucial member of the team. Below is Hama’s original concept art for the character.
I feel like Dawn’s costume has kind of shifted a bit depending on who is drawing it and the figure fits in well with the various recent depictions. I love that she gets an alternate head along with the classic Snake Eyes accoutrements.
The figure goes up for pre-order today at 10AM PT wherever fine toys are sold. This feels like a nice opening salvo for what is sure to be a great set of G.I. Joe Classified reveals at NY Toy Fair this weekend.
