Hasbro: Marvel Legends Falcon and Winter Soldier John F. Walker Captain America Promo Pics and Info

Hasbro Pulse UK just posted an interesting Marvel Legends pre-order….

The listing seems to be a Pulse UK exclusive version of John Walker Captain America from Falcon and Winter Soldier, and the special packaging and lack of BaF piece seems to back that up. I’m guessing this will be a store exclusive of some kind in the US.

EDIT: Here’s the Walmart link!

An American hero with a decorated military record, John F. Walker seemed like the perfect fit to become the next Captain America after Sam Wilson retired the shield. But is every hero fit to take on such a legacy?

  1. I’d rather have new figures of Sam and Bucky. Sam with a goggles-less face and Bucky with a better face.

  2. Almost as exhausting a thinking you need to cynically chime in to any discussion of race, homophobia, or sexism in 2021 in America.

  3. It is. You’re absolutely right. It is very tiring.

I’m jealous of you man, it has to be way easier pretending it doesn’t exist.

  4. Uuugh it is so tiring hearing basic people be willfully ignorant. Bruh why even comment. There was areally well written post really wanting the show to “go there” because it’s a elephant in the room that would be cheesy to ignore. This is why we can’t have nice things smh.

  5. Uggggh. It must be tiring to be so sensitive to race relations in 2021 in America.

Everything is racist. Everything is sexist. Everything is homophobic. -Anita Sarkeesian

  6. Skimming the article (Collider I think), they used that as support for why he’s a symbol of white supremacy. Because like many secretly racist whites, they have a POC friend or is even married to a POC, so they can claim “they’ve got black friends” etc.

  7. Agreed, I hope that baggage is front and center, otherwise this show has no reason to exist.

USAgent is a character created as a reaction to the Iran Contra affair, and firmly existed as an embodiment of Reagan era beliefs.

I think the mistake the general audience makes about Captain America comics is that they’re ultra patriotic propaganda.
But Cap stories weren’t, they were almost always written as a mirror to society at that time. Analyzing patriotism and heroism as equal parts poison and cure. A Cap story needs to study the beliefs of the time period and make it accessible by the masses. To challenge peoples perception of what they’re being told, and if is truly ‘right’ or popular.

Is John Walker a fictionalized representation of racism? I hope so.
I hope all of this is a study of where we are, and what we’re dealing with. Especially if he’s made to be this righteous poster child that you’re a bad person if you question. Information suppression is the poison of our era. To question anything is to be a snowflake or Antifa or any other term to denigrate the person and prevent the argument.

  8. Eh.
I’ve never liked the movie costumes for Cap. I always loved the comic book ones, the movies always made fun of them, and Caps movies tread a weird line of being embarrassed by Comic Book things (a la’ X-Men) and embracing them.

Walker continues that ultra plasticy look, but who knows… we’re only in the beginning of the series, and a properties quality has a lot to do with ones desire to have something representing it.

  9. Because in the comics he tends to be depicted as….ultra patriotic/low key nationalist. I think the show worked to soften than by giving him Black wife (to go with the Black best friend). Walker has traditionally rubbed people that way. If he were a real person he probably would have voted for Trump…not so much out of total agreement with the extremes but more identifying with him as someone articulating his views. But there is baggage with that. I can kind of see the conflict between he and Sam being on quite a few different levels. And if we know Steve wouldn’t handle the truth about Isaiah Bradley well…imagine how Walker will take it. I happen to like Walker and when this is all over it will be kind of cool to see him pop up.

  10. Just started watching the series so I haven’t come across his inclusion yet but seems like a cool figure. Plus I can always use more custom fodder, lol.

  11. Enjoying the series and quite like the character, but the figure just looks a bit cheap to me.

  12. Haven’t watched the series, so tried to google what this is about.

“Why John Walker is the symbol of White Supremacy”

    Huh. Riiiiight.

  13. Like… I feel like having such a specific hand gesture, with no swappable alternative, is the kind of thing we should be able to report to the Better Business Bureau, right? Like how hard is it to include 1 alternate fist? I can’t be alone on this.
