Four Horsemen Studios: Mythic Legions Torgun Redfin

I love getting a bunch of figures in a big ‘ol box, but it’s a double edged sword in that sometimes I don’t feel like I’m appreciating each new figure and giving them their due when I open ten figures in one go. To that end, I’m slowly opening my Mythic Legions: Wasteland pre-order and today we are going to take a look at Torgun Redfin.

Torgun comes in the standard collector friendly packaging and his bio has some interesting details about Torgun’s origin as half brother King Bromden Ironjaw who strikes out when Bromden turns to the dark side.

Torgun comes with a sword, shield, mace, two shoulder armor pieces, and a weapon holding strap. The weapons are really cool and though I believe we’ve seen them in previous weapons packs, I can’t remember off the top of my head exactly where they came from. One detriment for me for this line has been the over-use of a couple weapons, so this is a nice turn of events for me.

The shoulder pads are pretty familiar and attach at peg holes in the back. I don’t love the look of these on a shirtless character because they kind of look a little like the float there unattached, but like it a bit more when there is a strap and one shoulder pad because I can imagine how it stays on there better.

It looks to me like the the figure re-uses the human barbarian bare torso with dwarf lower body and forearms. This works a lot better than I would have thought, so much so that I really had to compare the parts to be sure. It does make him a little taller than most of the other dwarves.

The head swaps over to a barbarian body easily, so you could make a red-head barbarian really easily if you like.

The head is really nicely sculpted. I love that his beard is braided and capped in a similar fashion to his brother Bromden. I also like his angry expression and could go for a lot more of this with these figures. I’d love a Vampire in mid-bite or a screaming orc.

Paint is good with the usual shiny metallics and there is a bit of shading to the skin. My figure has a little dark shading on the tip of the nose that I don’t like. It just looks a little dirty.

The articulation is standard for this line and moves pretty well, though I do sort of miss bicep swivels in the bare arms more than I do in the armored arms.

Overall, I’d say this is another successful Mythic Legions figure and a great addition to my Dwarf clan. I do think I’d like some more non-armored pieces for these bare chested figures. Something like soft gloves or bare forearms would be nice. Torgun is available from BBTS.
