If you haunt eBay enough, you begin to see trends. Certain things just sell better than others. The same goes for the Frenzy. You’ll see a lot of repeats just because I tend to gravitate towards certain styles and properties. But, it’s always fun! Or in some cases, disheartening, because I know I won’t get figures as good as some of these customs. Sigh.
Like this Bastion. I mean, Hasbro does dig deeper sometimes, and it does my heart proud to be getting a Skullbuster, but Bastion seems a little further off the radar. Plus, this has glowing eyes!
I can never pass up a Thunderbird or Warpath. I just love that classic design, and we need John to finish out that Giant Size team. Well, and a new Colossus and Banshee. And a first appearance Storm. And an updated Nightcrawler. But Thunderbird seems the least likely, hence me wanting him the most.
Plus check out the side-by-side shot with a custom Warpath.
This old house hallway just looks phenomenal.
As does this abandoned shed.
I know absolutely nothing about Smash Bros or Captain Falcon, but I love the build work here.
Wolfsbane caught my eye because I’m still in New Mutants/X-Force/90s mode with my figures thanks to Hasbro.
But what is up with this Sasquatch in the alternate pics for the auction? The other figures are cool, but daaaaaaaaamn, Walter looks sweet! It’s big, it’s thick, I absolutely love it.
You can have your ninja Psylocke (and I’ll have it too, not like I hate it, buuuuuutt….), I’ll keep pining away from my classic Betsy Braddock.
Just in case you want a more serious, stern Reed. Same seller has a powered down Johnny Storm, in case you have more Reed bodies lying around. You know, as one tends to have.
Not absolutely movie accurate, more of the comic translation of Juggernaut from Deadpool 2, but I don’t even care, looks great. Love the cloth work here.
I was asked the other day why I don’t feature much DC stuff and my response was “Because there just isn’t a lot out there.” What is there is nice, like this Sensor Girl, but a lot of auctions just go the Marvel route, or different scales. Search “custom action figure”, you’ll see.
My Black Swan was the assassin with mental powers in Gail Simone’s Deadpool run, I’m not familiar with this Black Swan. But I love the look and I dig this execution. And it made me Google a Marvel character I didn’t know existed and I learned something today. Win-win-win.
Heeeeeey. Babcsan. Another Storm. I can’t help it. Even in silver.
An inspired recipe for Shadowhawk!
Malekith looks amazing in darker tones with a precise paint job. The little extra additions really put it over the top too.
I will always have an undying love for New X-Men. It brought me back into comics after my fallout with them shortly after Lee’s X-Men began. That wasn’t really comic’s fault, it was mostly because I graduated high school and thought I was too mature for that kind of stuff. Pfffffft. Here I am, 25 years later, talking about custom action figures on the internet. Anyway, I need that team in plastic form and Jean would be a great start to it.
