Tidbits of Amazing Yamaguchi, Movie Realization, 1000Toys, and Medicom MAFEX at Tokyo Comic Con

Tokyo Comic Con isn’t all Figuarts and….Figuarts, it’s also nifty Bandai Movie Realization, it’s another look at the Amazing Yamaguchi Gambit, it’s 1000Toys’ Hellboy in it’s final colors along with Abe Sapien and Lobster Johnson, and it’s some sneaky pics of the Medicom MAFEX Newt Scamander and a weird Iron Man prototype!

Well, it’s also more, but these are the ones I’ve chosen to ramble about in this article. More to come? Maybe.

We’ve seen this Kaiyodo Amazing Yamaguchi Gambit but it’s so pretty that I don’t mind looking at it again and again. And after receiving Psylocke this weekend my body aches for more X-Men.

Okay, that was weird, but I’m leaving it in.

I kinda like the Movie and Manga Realization figures I’ve gotten, but I’m not a fiend for the line. Flipside, maybe it’s my need for a proper IG-88 fueling my new mission to own this version. Don’t get me wrong, it’s beautiful in it’s mishmash of styles, but some deep dark part of my brain is going “Get it if/when it releases and customize it into a movie style version.” Then another shadowed part of my psyche says “Yeah, but you’re a lazy ass and it’ll go on the shelf as is.”

They both have a point. I fear this will not see shelves for a while though, like some of the other Star Wars Realization and standard S.H. Figuarts.

We’ve seen the 1000Toys Dark Horse Direct Hellboy go through it’s knee evolution, and here it’s nice to see the legs and overall figure in what looks to be final colors. The legs blend and flow way better now. Also, Lobster Johnson and Abe Sapien from last week’s Designer Con make another appearance here.

Then there’s these. It looks like the placards say “No Photographs” so who knows if these are meant for future release or just something for the show. If I were a betting man, and I would be if I didn’t buy so many dingdang toys, I’d bet the Fantastic Beasts Newt Scamander will be solicited soon, for a release date of 2020. The Iron Man is odd though. I don’t recognize the armor off-hand, which isn’t a surprise since I haven’t studied all 953 iterations since the 90s, but the size is also baffling. Why is it so big? We rarely see two-ups anymore. Is this armor supposed to be this big, scale-wise? Either way, the thought of a MAFEX Iron Man tickles me.
