Four Horsemen Studios: Mythic Legions Advent of Decay Knubnik

Mythic Legions Advent of Decay introduces a few new factions and character types to their story and also a few new body types to their figure line. The Goblins are both new body types and character type and I went all in on these guys. Today we are going to look at one of the new Goblins, the assassin Knubnik!

Knubnik comes in the usual collector friendly packaging with the killer artwork and his insert tells us a little about what a loathsome little monster he is. Apparently awful even by the low standards of Goblin kind, Knubnik works as an assassin for the Goblin King.

Knubnik comes with a good amount of accessories including an axe, two removeable shoulder pads, two heads, a weapon strap, three back attachments for adding wings, a removeable collar, an axe, a knife, and a mace.

The axe and mace are from the first Mythic Legions weapons packs and I don’t recognize the knife, but it has a really dwarvish vibe to me. It does feel the most like an assassin’s weapon out of the set. The detail is nice and there is a few layer of paint on there to bring out the detail.

The axe has cool bone handle and I think it works better here with the goblin then with any of my other Mythic Legions figures. I especially like how the cracked bone details on the handle are brought out with a dark wash.

The sculpt is just so great and detailed with pitted and dented armor. I love the profile of the body. It’s squat and small, but also a bit lanky and lean due to the longer arms. The only quibble I have with it is that the head without the helmet is the forehead is a bit marred by something that looks like a sprue cut.

The loincloth is a neat design because the fur is split into two pieces and it allows for more leg movement. By adding the collar, shoulder pads, and helmeted head, Knubnick can easily go from a light armor look to fully armored look.

I love the variety of appearances you can get with the one figure. The articulation is like the other Mythic Legions figures with one exception, his knees don’t swivel. I found that it didn’t really mess with the poseability at all.

The paint is really nice, especially the armor. It’s got a couple great metallic paints, dark washes and some mud splatter effect on the legs.

The wing attachment works well, though like with the vampire, I think this guy would look fantastic with some bat wings.

I was a little nervous about this figure because I went all in on Goblins, so it would really suck if I didn’t love this figure. Thankfully, it’s fantastic and my only real regret is I didn’t get some more. This guy also looks fantastic mixed in with orcs!
