Happycat Industries and Zag Toys: Super Action Stuff!! Super Foodie Series

Have you ever looked at your favorite action figures and wondered if they are missing out on the good things in life? With these accessories, your action figures will something fun to do rather than collecting dust.

The mad minds at Happycat Industries and Zag Toys have finally given all of our little plastic people the sustenance they deserve after spending days holding elaborate poses on the shelf or in front of the camera. With the meteoric rise of action figure photography, many companies have stepped in to provide unique and varied environments for our toys, but thanks to Happycat, we now have “18 awesomely mundane accessories for action figures,” to give our 1:12 scale (six inch) heroes and villains something to do other than fight. I mean, even mortal/plastic enemies have to take some time to refuel every once in while, right?

Well, now they can, and you can have a bit of fun with them, too. Personally, I am always on the lookout for things that can make photos more fun, so while these will likely not be the focal point in any collection, they can add some fun and pizazz to many collections. I mean, most of my collection is packed away while I wait on finishing my basement in my new house, but everything that was at hand, from new Deadpool figures (obvious choices) to the SWB Gamorrean Guard (thanks for being a muse, Battle Babies) employed these pieces in delightful ways. It is tough to make them the center of attention, but I decided to show them in focus and (mostly) centered to show off the details, rather than have them blend into the scenes.

These pieces have a slightly “animated” quality to them, so they feel more “prop-ish” than say, some of the hyper realistic pieces Re-Ment puts out in Japan. That is okay though, because that just adds to the irreverent quality of a moment that can be easily captured by using these. Now, since this set is labeled as the “Super Foodie Series,” that implies that there are more pieces in the works, which could be a lot of fun because plastic figures have hobbies, too, right? In this set you get 18 pieces and they include:

  • Bottle of Beer
  • Hot Dog
  • Can of Soda
  • Donut
  • Shawarma
  • Slice of Pizza
  • Apple
  • Ice Cream
  • Taco
  • Water
  • Can of Beer
  • Smartphone
  • Banana
  • Turkey Leg
  • Mug of Ale
  • Pizza Box
  • Chimichanga
  • Bottle of Whiskey

So, there is quite a bit of variety here, and that means there should be something for everyone. Alcohol take center stage for sure here, and there are a few ways to imbibe beer with the can, bottle, and mug, so go nuts. At the top and bottom end of the spectrum, I think the shawarma is my favorite, and the bottle of whiskey is my least favorite, but that is mostly a coloring thing. But all of the pieces are fun, and while the smartphone might seem like an odd inclusion amongst so much food, the rationale (and picture on the card) show that we truly are living in the Instagram era, so even plastic dudes gotta take pics of everything they eat.

If you take pictures of toys as a hobby, or even if you want to make your display a bit more fun, I highly recommend this set. I will be keeping an eye on Happycat and Zag to see what they cook up next, but this is a very affordable series, and you can grab it up right now on Amazon for future food-laden shenanigans.
