I was introduced to Blue Beetle back during Crisis on Infinite Earths and then in the regular Justice League series that followed. I loved the character, the costume and the concept; in a world full of Post-Crisis seriousness he was a welcomed spot of sunshine.
I am not going to do a full on review of Blue Beetle; VeeBee already covered the character back in 2013 (link) and there isn’t a whole lot to add. But I would strongly recommend that any comic collector pick up the two-year run from 1986-1988 as it is one of the zaniest reads.
The figure is the Black Manta buck and is a good choice for the medium-sized figure. There is little new sculpting, mainly the belt, head, and gun. The best part of this figure is the paint applications — they nailed it. It is Blue Beetle straight off the page. The only thing that could make this figure better was a full scale Bug Ship for him to ride around in.
What’s the verdict? This is a must-have figure. It’s one of the best made DC Universe Classics and it is a key character for many DC eras. I say pick him up. You can get him here:
